Programmer confession: I still use old laptops way longer than I should

Hi all... Most of my friends upgrade constantly but I’ll keep using the same machine until it physically starts making suspicious noises. That’s also why I avoid random office crack installs now. Last thing I need is malware on the laptop I use for coding. WPS office has honestly been fine for quick documentation/editing stuff without slowing everything down. I mostly just care that it opens fast and stays out of the way.

Need beginner advice... how do you stop Power Automate flows becoming messy?

Hi Everyone, I’m fairly new here.. started learning Microsoft Flow recently and every automation starts simple…

Then suddenly:

nested conditions everywhere

confusing variables

broken triggers

microsoft office free download files triggering random folder automations

Mostly using it for organizing documents and WPS Office files right now.

Any tips for keeping flows clean/manageable early on? Thanx in advance

Anyone else notice AI is amazing at small annoying tasks?

Student here, I'm not using AI for build a startup in 24 hours type stuff honestly

Most of my AI usage is literally:

cleaning horrible class notes

fixing spreadsheet formulas at 2am

rewriting awkward emails

organizing random study material before exams

Way more practical than all those hype YouTube videos make it seem.

Current setup is basically:

old laptop + WPS Office + 40 Chrome tabs + AI saving my academic life. Anyone else using AI more for everyday survival than futuristic stuff?

Anyone switch browsers because Chrome was killing battery life?

My old laptop barely survives college days anymore

Chrome was destroying:

RAM

battery

temperatures

Switched to Edge recently and honestly it feels a bit smoother for:

PDFs

Office web apps

assignments

microsoft office download searches

Still curious though...what browser setup works best for low-end laptops now?

Hi all, Student here.

Tried installing a random microsoft office download from a sketchy site because my old laptop couldn’t handle newer Office versions well... Bad idea.

Now I’m trying to rebuild a cleaner setup with:

Need recommendations for privacy-focused email services

Trying to move away from using my main Gmail for literally everything.

Mostly looking for:

good spam protection

aliases

privacy-focused providers

simple UI

maybe encrypted mail

Right now I’m testing Proton Mail and SimpleLogin.

After enough sketchy office crack downloads and random website signups, I realized I should probably separate my accounts better. Would love recommendations from people here. Thanx in advance

What free PDF tool surprised you the most?

Hey everyone, I always assumed good PDF tools had to be paid, but some free apps are honestly pretty solid now.

Been trying:

WPS Office

PDFgear

Xodo

SumatraPDF

Curious what PDF software people here genuinely ended up keeping long term.

Need advice: should I fully switch to Edge now?

Hey, I’ve been testing Edge for about a week after reinstalling Windows and honestly I’m surprised.

Main things I like so far:

PDF support

sleeping tabs

battery life

cleaner multitasking

I originally only opened it for microsoft office download stuff

For long-time Edge users:

any annoying issues I should know about before fully switching?

Anyone else use different word processors for different tasks?

I realized my workflow is weird now because I don’t really stick to ONE document app anymore

Current setup:

* Microsoft Word for important/shared files

* Google Docs for collaboration

* WPS Office for quick offline edits

* sometimes LibreOffice on Linux

Honestly wps office surprised me the most because it feels very close to classic Word visually, especially for simple DOCX editing. A lot of users mention the same thing when comparing alternatives.

Curious if other people here also bounce between multiple writing tools depending on the task.

Student here... is ONLYOFFICE enough for college work?

Hey..I’m a student trying to avoid paying for the usual download microsoft office setup every year and started testing ONLYOFFICE recently.

Most of my work is:

essays

presentations

shared DOCX files

spreadsheets

Honestly compatibility has been better than I expected so far. I’ve seen a lot of Linux users mention ONLYOFFICE because it handles Microsoft formats better than older free alternatives in some situations. For students using it daily...Do you run into major formatting issues with professors/classmates using Microsoft Office? Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Student setup on Samsung DeX

Hello..I’m trying to use Samsung DeX more for college work instead of carrying a heavier laptop all the time.

Current setup:

Bluetooth keyboard/mouse

monitor

Samsung Notes

WPS Office

cloud sync apps

Honestly for note-taking, PDFs, and light documents it works way better than I expected. DeX honestly feels like a mini laptop now. I barely miss a full PC setup for simple stuff. Any recommendations for apps or workflows that work especially well on DeX? Thanx in Advance

Anyone here mix Microsoft tools with other productivity apps?

Hi, I’m fairly new to Power Automate.

After setting up the microsoft office download workflow, I started experimenting with automations for Outlook and Excel and now I’m trying to expand my setup a bit. I use wps office or libreoffice sometimes for quick edits because it runs lighter on my laptop, but for automation I’m mostly sticking with Microsoft tools.

For people here with solid workflows:

What apps/services integrate really well with Power Automate that beginners should check out?

Thanks in advance

How do you decide what’s safe to download online?

hello everyone.. I’m just starting to care more about online privacy/security, but honestly it feels a bit overwhelming.

Earlier I’d just search microsoft office download and install whatever looked legit, but now I second-guess everything. Sometimes you even see stuff like microsoft office crack links mixed into normal search results, which makes it feel even sketchier. How do you guys judge whether a download is trustworthy?

Hello, Recently I’ve been thinking more about online privacy, and something came to mind.... searching for microsoft office crack. It feels risky because you’re downloading files from unknown websites. You never really know what’s inside, it could be malware, tracking software, or something harmful. Plus, no updates means more problems later. So I’ve stopped doing that and started using safer options. I’ve been using wps office, not perfect but it’s simple and doesn’t feel unsafe. What do you think... is this more of a security problem or a privacy issue?

Hi all,

a big part of my week is fixing old Microsoft Office Download files instead of actual priority work.

it’s becoming:

* outdated templates

* messy spreadsheets

* broken formatting

* repeat cleanup tasks

I even tried opening some of them in WPS Office just to speed up quick edits, but the real issue is the files themselves keep coming back messy. feels like I spend more time maintaining old documents than moving real projects forward.

should I raise this with my manager, or is this just part of office life?

hello, so my question is ,I keep trying to automate bigger workflows, but the more advanced they get, the more they break.

starting to think pros intentionally keep flows boring and small. I already use Microsoft Office Download for normal work and wps office for quick edits, so maybe I’m expecting automation to solve too much. what changed your mindset after using Power Automate long-term?
