Any advice on oseosarcoma please?

My dog is only 10 and she has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma bone cancer which is eating her pelvis bone and hip. There is nothing they can do to cure it.

She is currently on pain medication, but the vet has offered two additional options that might help: a zoledronic acid infusion or a Librela injection. These would be given once every 4 weeks, and she would need to stay at the vet for a few hours. It’s an hour's drive each way, though she is fine in the car. She is quite a nervous dog to be left at the vet, but then it would only be once every 4 weeks.

The vet said that if she is only given standard pain relief, her expected timeframe is likely around 2 to 3 months. Best case scenario with the extra treatments is that they have had one dog reach 9 months and another reach 12 months.

I’ve been reading up on Librela, and it seems a lot of pets have experienced serious side effects, with some vet clinics even withdrawing its use. I have no clue what to do. I'm torn between feeling like trying the treatments and leaving her at the vet isn't fair if she gets side effects, and feeling like not trying them means I'm just signing her away to a shorter time when they could potentially work really well. I don't want her to suffer or go in a nasty way, and I know this is an incredibly painful cancer. She is still going on small walks and eating, drinking, and toileting okay, though she is also at risk of getting a fracture which would be very painful.

Also, before she was diagnosed she wasn't limping and didn't react when the vets were feeling over her, so I feel like I don't fully know if she is even in pain right now or not.

Thank you

Taking dog with bone cancer on a trip?

My dog was diagnosed with cancer 2 days ago which was a massive shock the vet couldn't even believe it. I really want to take her on a trip it will be around 5 hours driving (obviously I can stop frequently) but I don't want to be selfish. I just want to add if for whatever reason we need to stay in when we get there that is fine, she will never be left alone and of course we can access a vet anywhere we go. She is also very well used to driving around and has done a lot of travelling.

The only real change to her behaviour is she has been choosing to sleep in the kitchen instead of on normal (human) bed and last night she was lip licking which I have contacted vet they think it could be meds as she was only put on them 2 days ago or maybe she could have been a bit uncomfortable. But in the day she seems fine. She is a little stiffer in herself but she is still walking round, no limping or anything and lead walks have been ok'd.

Thank you

Has anyone come back from being suicidal?

I was finished by my ex after 9 years via text message. Anyway 4 months on and I'm still suicidal. I have tried going gym, making friends, crying, sitting with pain, staying in, going out, spending time with family, getting outdoors, active, etc. Around 2 weeks ago I thought I can't sit in this space and started trying to date again, which has just shown me I don't want anyome but him.

So I was with mine for nearly 10 years and it's like one day he just decided he didn't care. We were literally looking at houses the week before. When we first split up I was crying he just hung the phone up, he's since blocked me everywhere to stop me reaching out. He was so caring, it's so bizarre. Like a different person. As far as I know there is no one else involved but who knows. I just can't understand it. I have no friends to talk to. This is a month on and it's like I'm drowning and he's so pleased, it's just so strange. Like breaking up is one thing but to act so like unbothered and cold is just another type of heartbreak. He also said about couples counselling around a week which was his idea for "closure" and to "help" then after our 1st individual sessions each we were meant to move to joint and when it came to our 1st joint session he didn't want to do it which I found out through the counsellor.

So I self referred to talking therapies and am waiting for my GP to hopefully refer me higher but after my assessment I had a call back and they are offering me step 3. I asked the lady what it entailed and she just said someone will be in contact as she was new but it was more suitable than the CBT they originally offered. Thank you
