I'm a new student in the first year and I literally have no idea where to start with enrolment. The website is so confusing, I don't know how to add stuff or even what classes I need to enrol in based on my course?
I seriously have no idea what I'm supposed to do. My course is molecular biology with biotechnology if that helps.
Can anyone give any advice on how I'm supposed to know what to do?? I'm so lost

I bought a pair of size 6 female med defenders a while ago and they're starting to wear out so I'll need some new ones. However they're now discontinued so I can't just buy a pair of the same.
I've been looking at the Warriors because they seem to be the same last, but I'm not sure. It doesn't say anything about them being womens boots. And the altberg website suggests going up half a size with medium fit? I can't travel to any stockists to try them on myself so I want to get it right first time.
Has anyone made this switch before or tried both and can give any advice? The defenders were my dream boot and fit perfectly so if the warriors are the same then I can just buy them without worrying.

We own about a dozen budgies and always have since I was a little kid. My dad particularly loves our budgies and takes very good care of them.
His birthday is coming up and I'm wanting to hand-make him a card with a ring inside which pops open when the card is opened. I plan to draw budgie themed things on the ring to make it all about budgies!
However I'm struggling to think about what things are distinctly budgies. I will of course draw some actual budgies but I can't think beyond that for some reason.
If anyone has any ideas I'd be happy to hear some!

A level results day was August 13th and I received my grades and university destination. On results day I went into school and collected my results and chatted to some of the teachers there. One asked if they could take a picture of me for the school Instagram and I said no. No picture of me was uploaded.
I've always tried to keep my personal information away from social media and have no social media of my own. However, a friend showed me that my school has publicly posted my full name, my final exam grades and my university destination on the school Instagram and potentially other platforms in a list of several other students with "excellent grades and exciting destinations".
I was not asked if this was ok to post and if I had been asked, I would've said no. It's also frustrating that since this was posted a few days ago, many people will have already seen it and most of the damage is already done.
This upset me since I've spent so much time ensuring that my name and details are not publicly released, and my final grades and uni destination feels way too personal and private, even if I am proud of the achievement. I just don't want it posted online.
I'm not sure if this is necessarily a legal matter but wanted to check what steps I can take and whether this really is illegal.

We noticed this start only today. Our TV is a Sony, about 9 years old, and it keeps turning on and off for no apparent reason. Our provider is Virgin Media. We've taken the batteries out of the remote to check for a stuck button but no luck. We've hard reset the TV and box but still the same problem. Once it turns off by itself, it turns back on again a moment later before turning off again. We're suspecting a dodgy HDMI cable but can't say for certain. Not sure if this is even the right subreddit but hoping someone has a fix. Has anyone else had this problem or any advice? Thanks all
Picked this up today from a charity shop for 50p as it looked interesting. I looked it up while I was there and knew it would be nasty, but it's definitely a few kicks up from the Stephen King I'm used to. I started with Sushi Plate Epiphany because I thought it sounded slightly friendlier as a good introduction, but oh how wrong I was. It changed so dramatically, I wasn't expecting it to just turn like that. As an emetophobe, I couldn't finish that story.
Has anyone else read any of these stories and what did you think of them? Also, are there any others I should avoid which contain explicit mentions or descriptions of throwing up? I can't seem to find many mentions online but obviously there's at least one!

I love my altbergs for daily wear and long walks. I purchased the altberg defenders years ago but the model has since been discontinued and I need a new pair since the soles are almost worn flat and the rubber and leather is cracking. The ops boot is its replacement but apparently it's made on a different last to the defenders. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a pair of defenders and has since bought the ops boots. Are they any different? Looking for advice since they're expensive new so I don't want to sink loads of money into something that doesn't fit. If anyone has any other advice on altbergs then I'm happy to listen. Thanks all
I remember reading this when I was younger and couldn't remember the title or author.
I know it follows a British fighter pilot in WW2, it's a pretty short children's picture book. I remember in the story the pilot is shot down and wakes up in hospital with shrapnel wounds.

I remember the front cover had a big phoenix on it, I think with silhouettes of three or four children at the bottom of the cover looking up at it. I remember part of the book involved a corpse flower, I think as a clue to help the children solve a puzzle.

I've been making popup cards for birthdays and Christmas for people I know for a year or two! I'm not an art student or professional or anything and I don't really practice, I just plan something when I need it then draw, colour, and cut out. I really enjoy making these and they're super satisfying. The picture folds into the card when you close it so it's not visible at all when closed. This one is made for my sister whose birthday is soon! Her favourite flower is sunflowers so I made sure to put one in. I will put a message for her in the middle too lol not just leaving it blank. I thought this would be a good place to share!
A few months ago we got a new Virgin TV box as a free upgrade but after we set it up, the TV has stopped working as it should.
When the box is on and you turn on the TV, you get a black screen with no picture or sound. There is a top bar displaying HDMI, which is correct, and the display size and format, but no actual picture for TV. So it seems to just be a problem displaying TV.
Wait a while from that point and the sound will return but still no picture. The TV will put "Dolby Digital" next to the display size on the top bar and then the top bar will disappear entirely. The channel will change if I press buttons since I can hear different TV shows when I press buttons. So the TV is still responsive even if the picture isn't showing. Turn the TV off and on by this point and the sound will stop working again and you'll be back to square one.
Wait even longer after the sound returns and the screen will go entirely blue for some reason. Turn the TV off and on again at this point and there's a 50/50 chance that the picture and sound will be back for good, or you'll be back to the start again.
This whole thing is frustrating since it takes so long to turn the TV on now. I think the longest it's taken us to get it working is 1hr. We've tried everything we can think of, e.g resetting the box, turning on active start, but nothing has worked.
Has anyone else had a similar problem or found a fix? Thanks!
Don't know if the flair is right since first time on the sub. I made this meme since whenever my period is almost here / a bit late, I always feel like it will ambush me overnight. I don't like wasting a big chunky pad for nothing, so I just put in a thin one and hope for the best. I felt like this experience needed a physical representation. Does anyone else do this too?
I'm a Year 13 student from England and my offer is AAB for Molecular Biology with Biotechnology. However, I feel like I could've done better on my exams and I feel like I might get ABB or even BBB, meaning I miss my offer.
If I miss my offer, I'm planning on calling the admissions desk as soon as I can on results day, with the guidance of a teacher at my school, to try and convince them to accept me. Here's what I will remind them of to help my case:
- I have 2 weeks of work experience in a University lab, working with actual researchers. A lot of my personal research was used to apply for a grant for my supervisor's research.
- My lab work in class is excellent, which has been noted in my personal reference by my teachers.
- I have an AS level in further maths at grade D
- I have an Extended Project Qualification on the history of the Thalidomide Scandal and the changes in medical regulations which followed, at grade A*, which shows my skills in independent research, time management, and accurate referencing.
Are there any other buzzwords or anything that the admissions team would really like to hear about to convince them to accept me if I drop a grade or two? Any advice will be helpful to me. If I can't convince them over the phone then I will enter clearing. I also understand that there's a chance my application could be accepted anyway without a phone call even if I miss my offer, which I hope will be the case!
