Sorry if it's old news, mods you can remove it but yeah every once in a while spotify shows me stuff like this.

Like some of the instrumentals are okay but the lyrics are straight up shit. Melanie has never been a genius lyricist but her unreleased stuff and some portals songs genuinely had potential and thought put in. Unless she had others write the lyrics for her back then, idk. But then she came back, a 30 year old woman singing i don't give a single flying fuckity fuck fuck fuck machine. I was so sad that Melanie turned out to be someone I dislike but I'm also glad the album is something I would have disliked even as a fan so it feels easier to let go. If hades had been a sonically artistically visually lyrically beautiful album I would have been so pissed because how am I supposed to hate that. But hades doesn't make any sense and it tastes hasty as hell. I'm still pissed that some of the aesthetic work for hades are beautiful, which were of course not done by Melanie herself. Such beautiful art wasted on such a person. She doesn't even apologize or acknowledge unless she's playing the victim in badly worded songs. (Photo unrelated)

Now this is just my personal opinion but K 12 and portals unreleased songs were great Not relating children with adult themes too much, twee but sufficiently clever metaphors. Maybe lacking in depth but thats better than poorly writing about Very Important Issues in my opinion

Pop surrealism and seperating art from reality is something I just might get myself to agree with to an extent, but i dont know. Maybe playing toddlers flashing each other in baby cribs and talking about taking someone else's man with slurs in the lyrics just wasn't as edgy and cool as I thought at eleven

I just don't think Melanie succeeded in being what they aspire to be, the social critic, which they had been going for a decade now

Honestly all that is already pretty shitty with the merch prices and, hate to scrutinize someone I've never even met but the pet dog abuse things and frequently changing but never ending partners who always ends up helping with their career, the partner who lasted longest came out talking about Melanie's wrongs after breaking up, getting a new partner in less than a few months and constantly posting pictures with them, breaking up with the new one in lightening speed, talking shit about plastic surgery and then getting it themself,

but to top it off the rape allegations?? And not just timothy but another person talked abiut a similar experience. I am NOT separating the art from the artist from that point
