Until Dawn 2 Expectations/Wants
Hey everyone as we saw a few months ago UD2 is coming next year and i wanted to make a post dedicated to what i want or even expect from the game, feel free to comment, disagree/agree with or about anything!!
More rewarding ending cutscenes… i don’t know about you guys but especially in UD1 and The Quarry, I’m sick of the like 30-45 second ending cutscenes then the credits roll (usually having the aftermath of the night in the credits). I would love if UD2 made it so if you kept everyone alive they all got their own cutscene where they all interact with each-other. Of course they should also have other special cutscenes depending on other actions you make for example: killing everyone, keeping a certain person/people alive, a different ending if you find all evidence/clues and so on.
Choices have a bigger impact… basically what i mean is let’s say i make a certain dialogue choice in the first hour, depending on that dialogue choice or action a certain character will save or on the other hand not save someone. If i could try to find an example think of Chris and Ashley, if Chris attempts to shoot Ashley, no matter what you do, you will always die as Chris because Ashley won’t let you into the cabin. I like this because it makes it so that even if u succeed all QTEs you aren’t quarantined safety
More ambiguous endings… this might be a hot take and if u want more detail i can respond with it but if you really pay close attention to the games narrative (UD1, the quarry) there is clearly a set ending they had in mind or at very least knew some characters were supposed to survive/die. For example based on the narrative of UD1 you can infer Matt and Jess are supposed to die (Jess when she’s grabbed. And Matt either in the mines or with the elk attack) whereas someone like Josh and Sam are more than likely supposed to live as they only have 1 or 2 encounters where they can die. Creating a more ambiguous endings would definitely help and this will lead into my fourth point later. It would help the story and i feel like more people would enjoy the game that way knowing that any ending could work as a canon ending.
Stop making playable characters that have the opportunity to die early on and because of that you never use them for majority of the game… Basically i can sum this up in one word —Jess— i hate what they did with her character i would’ve loved if she met up with Emily in the mines because of their dislike of each-other and just watching them work together to survive. This would help UD2 because it would make more ambiguous endings but then again the game would be longer.
Have more interesting group team ups… for example when Mike and Sam basically team up in the end (two characters who barely spoke in the beginning who are now teaming up) or Matt and Jess teaming up even though they don’t like each-other, but they should extend it past just one chapter, this would help friend groups feel closer and in turn make the deaths of certain characters and the impact they have on the group more severe.
