Hi! I’m an incoming freshman for University of Santo Tomas (UST) in my second dream school and first dream program sa asian studies. I plan if ever tuition fee is becoming a concern or hindi nagreresonate sakin environment, I will be shifting to upd especially since first dream school ko siya talaga🫶 my only concern is pang masterals lang yung program na asian studies sa up. I was wondering if which similar programs with similar curriculums I could shift to, so I won’t be held back for a year. I wondered if may pwede ako itake na ladderization because my only concern lang with transferring is being held back a year kasi hindi ako papayagan ng parents ko lumipat if nadelay ako for 1 year kasi mag lalawschool pako. Aside from my first question, process ng transferring sa upd or requirements and would that remove me sa laude like magna/summa/cum? Thank you🥹 and God bless
So far, the newer generation does not care enough to make big 3 remarks and includes ust in the big four anytime. Alam kong mas lenient siya compared to other big four universities even if competitive yung exam. Sa kapitbahay namin, dalawa lang kami pumasa sa ust in comparison to others. My parents were really proud, and I guess I am too kasi ang dami kong pinagdaanan para lang makapasok sa ust. Kahit lenient siya sa 4, the admissions and exam are no joke talaga. Pero opening online spaces since kasi I want to search things related to the school and my program para lang mafamilarize ako with what to expect, medyo nakakababa ang confidence especially since gusto nila iexclude uste from the big fours and di daw siya ganun kahatak sa resumes and etc. Nagemail naman ako ng special acet kasi may ganun daw sila na system if u missed the original date, pero my partner is a upd student and I wonder if she feels as proud of me as I was with myself. Sana pala inexaman ko yung ateneo habang maaga pa. Pero I'm still grateful kasi dream program ko yung pinasukan ko and I know yung opportunity binigay sakin is a dream for others and not everyone has it.
Hi! Passed my dream program and an incoming freshie. I asked notes on what to read from my seniors and so far I have the chrysanthemum and the sword, notes from other books to read and etc. Started on spanish and a little bit of mandarin. I wonder if there'll be an emphasis on international law like Ateneo's asian studies (w diplomacy) program even if I know mas malaki scope ng ust than ateneo. honestly, I want to talk about the certain pink-haired girl a little bit more. Design-wise, she's still the same. Pink hair and glasses. She used to have short, scruffy hair in the zmbst round 1 mv. As shown when she was getting calmed down by Sua due to a conflict with her mother. That's also something I want to talk about more.
Alien Stage Mizi was basically "spoiled" by her Alien caretaker after her provider died. She viewed the world in rose-tinted glasses, which is why she seemed to have it longer during Alien Stage's universe than this one. I like to see it as a sort of symbolism as that. Most notably, when she starts losing the same pair in Alien Stage after Sua brutally dies in front of her while she was losing on purpose. However, the dynamic flips here during Zombie stage round 1. She loses her glasses after the graduation scene, right when she was auditioning. We've never seen her wear the thing other than the flashback scenes shown to us in the mv especially around Sua.
Alien Stage Mizi was a gentle, justice-bearing, and devotedly loyal girl. Also because Shine viewed her as a pet to be truly cared for (Albeit, giving her away because she thought that was what Mizi truly wanted, mistaking how fragile humans can actually be therefore allowing it. Remember she also allowed the human rebels, Hyuna's gang, take her in which shows how Shine overlooks the fragility humans bare. Furthermore, not taking into any account that these rebels might hurt her at all). Consequently, Mizi grew up withholding a gentler identity. As she was being surrounded by love an alien can ever actually give, she knows what love is. She also felt that love with Sua. Due to the sheltered environment, she can only give love the way she was shown; devotion, protection, viewing her as something special and fragile, a bit less like the way Shine viewed her. Mizi grew up guillible, naive, but she knows what she wants. She's firm to what feels wrong, even at the cost of her dreams. Because Alien Stage, the dystopian world that exploits her species and bets on their lives took the only person she truly loved, she abandons everything
People often say "Mizisua is toxic!" It's toxic in a way both people who have never been loved before love. It's a .. erm.. a 'normal' kind of idealization toxic? It's intense, recipocral, innocent in a way this love is viewed also in rose-tinted glasses. They put each other in such a pedestal hence the intensity. (Well, kind of not normal, but it's normal in a way two highly introspective people perceive loving each other kinda way would experience this love). They're far distinct than the other pairings in ALNST because of how open they are around each other when it comes to their utmost devotion. It's codependent, it's far beyond than what you're supposed to view your partner in a normal relationship. This one occurs almost often on young couples, but the toxicity lies on how both universes tests their relationship in different environments as they progress further.
Zombie stage Mizi is an interesting case. I thought I wouldn't go back to the fandom anymore, but the way the aesthetic and the dynamics flip so insanely surprises me so much I find it even more enthralling than ALNST itself. Since Alien Stage is set somewhere there in outer space, the aesthetics are different. It's supposed to give you an otherworldly, ethereal, dystopian and futuristic vibe. The aliens are elaborately designed, their clothes look like something you see in star wars. Zombie stage is entirely different, the lines between fiction and reality blurs itself further due to the avid themes of exploitation being embellished further when the world itself is set in real-time reality.
This time, humans are here, the real words "kpop" are used, it's not a survival talent show, nobody dies. Only your parts get auctioned off as a zombie and you're underground entertainment for whatever sick and twisted pleasure these men like. When Mizi's eyes where getting auctioned off, you can see other people's names on different body parts "Minho's arms" "The sweet face of Kate" and it shows us a little sign that kpop idols were already being turned into zombies after the outbreak and while they can't keep them in the industry anymore, they're sold for the sick and twistedness of underground entertainment. This universe is more horrifying than Alien Stage ever was.
Sorry, a little distracted there. But yeah, I like how they dealt with her. Vivimeng truly showed us how complicated Mizi could be if she was in a different environment. Everybody keeps deciphering what the rat at the start and the end of the mv could mean, but I thought the answer was pretty obvious; Mizi throws a pent-up fit of rage and kills it brutally, after an ugly conflict and being hit by her mother. This is kind of a new curtain opened for us; Zmbst Mizi is NOWHERE NEAR Alien Stage Mizi at all. Even when she starts off still herself; bubbly, outgoing, etc. In this universe, Zombie stage Mizi is messy, impulsive, and a willing puppet of exploitation due to what she grew up in. She grew up in an environment where control and abuse was normalized. She isn't innocent and she lost those rose-tinted glasses long ago.
But unlike being kept in anakt garden, given away by Shine and trained to be alien entertainment, it's an autonomous choice. A structured environment made by men, and decisions she's making. Mizi did NOT receive the love Shine gave her as a growing kid, so she had to find it from the WORLD*.* It's not like Sua isn't enough for her, but she wanted to be Seen. Appreciated. Cherished throughout the world. That's why she isn't willing to give up the idol dream even at the cost of Sua, and this is where the dynamic-flip lies. This is what Alien Stage Mizi would never do. The Mizi, who has given up fame and stardom just to escape what took Sua, is now a puppet of it.
I'd decipher a little bit that their argument about the cigarette is where the pedestals they have on each other starts to crack. Mizi starts showing herself off in ways that are the complete opposite of her innocence around Alien Stage, objectifying herself and allowing herself to be touched by these men, exchanging Sua for her dream. This breaks the innocence she views her, as the only pure and precious thing in this broken world filled with hatred, lust, and lies. The smoking was the final stroke on the camel's back. While she pulled it out of concern, smoking as a coping mechanism doesn't seem like something Mizi would ever do. But Mizi (as the small trigger as shown in the scene) is reminded of her controlling, abusive, mother, her helpless "fragile goddess" image of Sua breaks. She never thought Sua wouldn't let her get away with everything in front of her (As she already dismisses the flower and tells her staff to throw it away). This is why Sua doesn't stop the zombie from infecting her, because in her mind, she thinks she already lost her long after she became famous. I assume this is where it's starting to go widespread.
SORRY I KEPT TALKING ABOUT MIZI she was practically my first favorite character because I adore the pink and glasses so much, but I love how Zmbst is basically a karma of Sua's selfishness in ALNST leading her to be the one chasing after a distant and long-gone Mizi instead. There's still a re-occurring theme on these two though; How Sua is still selfish enough to keep Mizi in misery as long as it doesn't have to be her, and how Mizi is always suffering at the cost of it. She didn't put Mizi out of her misery after she found her tied up and infected, she lets the both of them stay and get exploited even more in the underground entertainment. I really love how Mizi is practically singing "soullessly" and erratically throughout the music, also the way she moves.
She moves and smiles in an animal-esque way in the beginning of the mv (almost falling on purpose, an ear-to-ear grin, etc.) because now she's given up half of her sentience in the circus and just performs to performs because this is her newfound purpose as nothing more than a zombie with nowhere else to go to, and Sua by her side. People think She doesn't hold Sua's hand anymore due to basically being unconscious, but I do not think that's the case. In this universe, zombies are zombies. They're conscious as shown in the circus! The zombie kids laugh and play sheepishly throughout their infection as shown in the teaser, Sua was fully aware of what she feels throughout the performance, Mizi was smiling ear-to-ear during the teaser. I like to think she's building up a pent-up resentment for everything Sua did, including leaving her alone in the spotlight to even bare the pain together, the cigarette, not putting her out of her misery, etc. To even try and be affectionate back. Nevertheless, she still loves her enough to kiss her back and drop an expression when she silently sings out for Sua as she loses the first round "hop hop bunny..." "Where are you going?"
This Mizi is more dimensional, messy, angry, resentful but loving enough to agree on performing a love song with Sua on stage. Sua is even more obsessive, cruel, and selfish to keep Mizi as long as they're together. Kissing your zombie partner to infect yourself too is NOT normal behavior. The aesthetics are more jpop-inspired like, candy-esque, and youthful in comparison to ALNST's mature and ethereal aesthetic. I CAN'T WAIT TO SERIOUSLY SEE MORE OF THEM will add pictures later... I'm just kinda lazy..

Hello po! I'm taking my special ustet in three days this friday. I'm quite confident naman in other subjects and mental ability. But the problem is, ang shunga ko sa math. Hindi strong fundamentals ko and even when I tried to focus for a week, I could never finish a topic straight. Dream program ko naman pa rin talaga asian studies :(( sabi naman ng friends ko sa program na its the easiest program to get into.. pero I just want to be prepared, any tips po ba rin for recon process because Im lowk mentally preparing myself for the worst HAHAHAHA
Hello! I'm taking the special exam this Friday, I don't want to sound like a brat pero I'm kind of overthinking na makakapasok ako.. I know its not a quota or in-demand program but Im especially nervous dahil a lot of people would take the program just for academic placement and I genuinely want this program due to it being a passion of mine (international studies, interdisciplinary history and law across the Asian region) so I was genuinely up all night overthinking ab it.. bcs in that case it js wouldn't seem very fair </3 well honestly I don't sound fair myself too sorry saouhfwuoqhow pero I know largest college yung arts and letters pero I wonder how accepting they are sa mga non-quota programs that might be a bit full for peace of mind ko 😭
