• I have an older model soft sided cat carrier with a steel frame. It is an E-series port-a-crate. I purchased it years ago and it seems to be a quality product, however I cannot figure out how the support poles work.

There are 4 poles, one to each corner. It appears the two front poles have a retractable sleeve that when pulled back would allow the rear poles to insert. This would square up the carrier at the top and complete the support. However, the length of the poles seems too great.

I am assuming some sort of user error on my part. It's a nice crate I purchased decades ago, used once or twice, and then it went into the closet. It's quality and I'd like to use it again if I can just figure it out.
