Spotted this little fella on my walk along the river. My lens is for birding and animals at distance mainly.. may need to invest in a macro lens but these guys are so hard to get close to sometimes. Still had to try snap a shot

Diplacodes trivialis. - Dragonfly

These dragonflies are characterised by their yellowish-green bodies with black markings and bluish eyes.

This is a large dragonfly, I captured this dragonfly with my cell phone and I used a macro lens, when I took a photo I had to be very careful because it flies very easily, and I only got one photo

Help turning water feature into potential dragonfly garden??

I have this water feature that came with the house I live in, its pretty gunky and I've been thinking of fixing it up. Then I had the idea of potentially making it a sustainable habit for dragonfly? However I'm pretty clueless...

Would I want to remove everything and start fresh? Should I leave the existing substrate and just add some more sand / rocks to create levels?

Im in canada btw.. so this does tend to freeze in winter (not solid tho) and all the existing plants in the surrounding garden do come back yearly.

A sort of Dragonfly, I assume. I don't need Latin name, just general group, or type would be great!

This big-eyed 'dragonfly' showed up at my place in Wisconsin, on the Mississippi River. I'm really sorry for the cruddy quality of all the pics.

There was negligible color to the wings, the body was dark, blackish.

Anisoptera (perching dragonfly) macrophotography

This dragonfly looks very big and I found it behind my own house, this dragonfly is different from other dragonflies, because this dragonfly looks a little bigger than the needle dragonfly.

Anisoptera (perching dragonfly) This is a dragonfly of the genus Diplacodes, probably a female or a young male of the species Diplacodes trivialis

They are known as "perching dragonflies", a name that refers to their habit of perching and remaining still in certain places
