Songs that scratch the profanity itch
Maybe you're like me and love a good profane song to sing in the car or turn up when you're having a bad (or a great) day. What are your favorite songs with explicit language? Please no N-word or racist lyrics, etc. (Listening to "Set It Off" by Audioslave right now, for context.
UPDATE: These are so great, thank you! Also "Shit, Damn, Motherfucker" by D'Angelo, priceless.
Buck Mountain shoe collection
Trail runners > hiking boots on yesterday's women's hike up Buck Mountain.
Lyrics surprise
My husband saw his first DMB show in 1992. We've seen 100+ shows together. Today he was listening to Hunger For The Great Light and said "wait...is this about oral sex?" 😂😂😂😂 Oh honey
Paul Smith's VIC
The orchids are in full bloom on the VIC's Boreal Life Trail! If you have never made your way there, it's so worth it.
Bolete!
A gorgeous bolete found in the Adirondacks. Is this a two-colored bolete, Baorangia bicolor? I did not have the heart to take it for a spore print.
Sheep laurel
Sheep laurel (Kalmia angustifolia) on Lower Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks
Late WVD post
I had no idea World Vitiligo Day was a thing so I'm late, but still showing off
Restaurants for grandma food
I'm taking my mom (in her 80s) to the James Taylor concert at SPAC this weekend. While I love great restaurants with international cuisine and good cocktails, that is not my fate this weekend. What would you recommend as a place that would serve the meat-potatoes-carrots crowd but also a foodie?
UPDATE: Thank you all for the terrific suggestions! Bookmarking them all. I tried Hatties, Olde Bryan and Pennell's and they were booked solid, so I got a rez at Ripe Tomato. The parking seems better there too for someone with mobility issues. All the ideas were wonderful.
It's that time of year! Diapensia blooming on top of Marcy and Haystack.
Grandson's reaction
My vitiligo has spread like crazy in the last two years and it's visible everywhere including my face and arms. I'm having a hard time coming to terms with it, especially the stares. However, I had a sweet thing happen last weekend when visiting my two year old grandson. He pointed at my arm and said "what's that?" I said "it's vitiligo," and he smiled and yelled "vitiwigo!" while then running around the house. The next morning he touched my face while whispering "vitiwigo," so sweet.
Columbine and morels
Red and Common columbine along my 50K route this weekend between the Devil's Punchbowl and Snake Road. Also found a giant morel, old but still pretty.
