💔 Goodbye, Shivraj Vidya Mandir School, Wadgaonsheri, Pune | Ward 05

Today, I learned that Shivraj Vidya Mandir School in Wadgaonsheri, Pune (Ward 05) has been demolished by PMCPune / pmccarepune.

For many, it may have been just a school building. For those of us who studied there, it was a part of our childhood, classrooms, friendships, teachers, morning assemblies, laughter, exams, and countless memories.

Seeing it disappear is genuinely heartbreaking. 💔

I’m not sure about the exact reason behind the demolition. I have heard a claim that a prominent person in the area had complained about disturbance from the school, but I cannot verify this and don’t want to present it as fact.

One thing I do want to appreciate: pmccarepune / PMCPune responded promptly and took action. Thank you for the prompt response.

The building may be gone, but the memories of Shivraj Vidya Mandir will always remain. ❤️

Political flags and banners around Sainikwadi, Pune

I noticed several political party flags and banners around Sainikwadi, including near Shri Dakshinmukhi Siddhivinayak Mandir.

I understand that political parties use flags and banners during elections or public events, but there doesn’t appear to be an election currently. It would be good if PMC could review these installations and remove any unauthorised flags or banners, irrespective of which party they belong to.

The National Flag is, of course, different and should be treated with due respect. 🇮🇳

Has anyone else noticed this around Sainikwadi/Wadgaonsheri?

Can We Discuss Education Reform Without Resorting to Labels?

Education reform raises important questions that affect millions of students:

  • How can access to quality education be improved?
  • How should schools and institutions be held accountable?
  • Are students being encouraged to think critically and evaluate evidence independently?
  • What changes would help create better opportunities for future generations?

Public figures, educators, activists, parents, and students often disagree on the answers. That's normal in a democracy.

Criticizing policies is not anti-national. Questioning institutions is not extremism. Strong societies improve when ideas can be debated openly, evidence is examined honestly, and arguments are judged on their merits rather than on labels attached to the people making them.

Whether you agree or disagree with advocates of education reform, what specific changes would you support to improve education in India?

When "development" is the slogan but potholes are the reality

The irony is hard to miss.

Across the area, the slogan "विकासाचे अधिकृत केंद्र म्हणजे सुरेंद्र" is prominently displayed. But the road between Ganesh Nagar Chowk and Sundarabai Marathe Vidyalaya paints a very different picture.

The video shows a stretch riddled with potholes that thousands of residents, students, cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists use every day. This isn't about political slogans or branding—it's about whether basic civic infrastructure is being maintained.

Honestly, I'm tired of politics revolving around catchy rhymes—Devendra, Narendra, Dharmendra, Gyanendra.... Residents don't need another slogan; they need roads that are safe to travel on.

Location:

Is this stretch an exception, or are similar roads common across Pune? Has anyone had success getting potholes repaired through the PMC complaint system?

Video attached.

Pune: Is It Time for a #CorporatorMustResign Campaign?

Residents of Ward 03 and Ward 05 have repeatedly reported damaged roads and potholes to PMC, yet the condition remains unchanged.

Every day, these roads put commuters at risk. How many complaints should citizens have to file before meaningful action is taken?

If elected representatives continue to ignore basic civic issues, is it time for citizens to start a #CorporatorMustResign campaign to demand accountability?

I'd like to hear from other Pune residents. Have you faced similar issues? Were your complaints resolved, or are you still waiting?

Parents in Pune: Looking for guidance on autism specialists and therapies for a 10-year-old

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to hear from parents or caregivers who have experience supporting a child with autism.

My 10-year-old niece is on the autism spectrum. Recently, our family has noticed that she's started forgetting some of the skills and concepts she had previously learned, and we're concerned about this change.

If you've had positive experiences with developmental pediatricians, child neurologists, psychologists, or therapy centers for autism, we'd be grateful for your recommendations. We're also interested in hearing about therapies or interventions that made a meaningful difference for your child.

We're especially looking for real experiences from families: what helped, what didn't, and what you wish you had known earlier.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences.

Birthday celebrations, water tankers, garbage, and broken roads <> priorities seem misplaced

Today, I saw a local corporator celebrating their birthday in our society. Ironically, their Fortuner got stuck at the gate because of the constant movement of water tankers entering and leaving the society.

What struck me was the contrast. Outside the society, garbage was overflowing onto the roads, the streets were in poor condition, and basic civic issues were obvious for everyone to see. Yet the focus seemed to be on receiving birthday wishes and greetings.

The bigger issue, in my opinion, is the number of birthday and congratulatory hoardings that appear across the area. Every corner seems to have posters and banners, while everyday problems like water supply, waste management, and road maintenance continue to affect residents.

Am I the only one who feels that public representatives should spend less effort on self-promotion and more on addressing basic civic issues?

What are your experiences in your area?

I requested my corporator to arrange for the road to be repaired.

Will this help?

As a resident of Ward 03, Pune, and a voter who supported her, I expect this issue to be addressed.

I have already raised the matter publicly on Facebook:
Facebook post

Can we expect a response and a timeline for resolving this road issue?
