Dating Apps vs Reddit.. Also, some late night thoughts...
Last night i couldn't sleep because i had a thought on my mind. What's the real difference between dating apps and Reddit?
On a dating app, we swipe based on looks. If we see someone attractive, we swipe right away. If it matches, we start chatting. In the end, it usually goes downhill and turns into some toxic mess.
It's not like that on Reddit. You don’t know faces, you don’t know names. If someone's posting somewhere, they might leave a comment. Oh, people can have a good sense of humor; they might DM you thinking there’s a vibe. When conversations happen, don’t expect too much because it could also go completely wrong..
Basically, whichever platform it is, the anxiety remains constant. We keep putting ourselves through this process...
That's when I start to wonder... What are these relationships even for? Are we just going in circles?
On a weekend with no plans, order a Kuzhimanthi with extra mayo or a shawarma from Swiggy. Chill with a series on Netflix. Don't expect timely replies from anyone; whether you're online or not, it's not a big deal, no fights. Just pure peace...
But if we talk about the problem, this single life peace only lasts for about 2-3 months before we start craving something. One day, when the rain is pouring, or when I open Instagram and see my friends' pre-wedding shoots, that’s when the feeling hits... Damn, do I also want someone?
Right away, I grab my phone. Reinstall the dating app, and here we go, back to square one. The cycle repeats..
There’s no escape from this loop, my friend. Am I the only one stuck in this cycle like this, or do you all feel the same way too?
