Clocking out of the Sonata Club

After two Sonatas and almost 100k miles combined, I'm out.

Started with a '21 that got totaled in a bad accident. Spent some time shopping around, ended up back in a '22. Honestly, a few months ago I was even considering a '26 — but then I stumbled onto a deal on a truck I couldn't pass up. So I sold the Sonata, paid off the truck, and now I'm officially a proud member of the paid-off-vehicle gang.

No car note. No regrets.

Here's the thing — both of mine treated me well. No major failures, no horror stories. I kept up with the small stuff: oil changes, fuel system cleaners, throttle body cleaning, all the boring maintenance people skip. And the cars just worked.

These cars get a bad rap sometimes, but in my experience, if you actually take care of them, they'll take care of you. Appreciate the ride, do the little things, and everything else falls into line.

To anyone still in the Sonata game — drive safe, stay on top of your maintenance, and enjoy the ride.

I'm out. ✌️

Steering Wheel Vibrations

2022 Sonata SEL, ~49,500 miles.

Symptoms:
· Intermittent steering wheel vibration at 50-60 mph (steady speed, not braking)
· Humming/road noise from wheels at same speed
· Vibration gets noticeably worse with Lane Keep Assist ON, reduces when OFF
· No warning lights

What I've done:
· Front brakes replaced recently – no change
· Tires from Firestone – they confirmed tires are balanced

Research:
Found TSB #22-ST-003H for MDPS worm shaft bearing noise on 2020-2022 Sonatas. Also seeing some threads mention CV axle/transaxle issues causing similar vibration.

Questions:

  1. Anyone else experience this? What was the fix?
  2. Is this covered under Hyundai's 5yr/60k bumper-to-bumper warranty?
  3. Any tips for getting the dealer to take it seriously without charging diagnostic fees?

Thanks!

It’s a 23’ can’t change the title…… Joined the club—2.7 EcoBoost with 58k miles, I’m the second owner. Truck spent most of its life on construction sites. I had a good relationship with the previous owner, but maintenance wasn’t their strong suit.

Planning to take it to the dealer before the 60k warranty expires. Anything specific I should have them check or any common issues to look out for on these? Appreciate any advice.

I have an AC200L. The box that it came in, do you really have to keep it for future warranty claims?

I purchased my unit used from eBay with the extended warranty if that makes a difference.
