6.6 was a bit of a hit or miss for some players. personally, I liked it! but after thinking about it, it has a missing element. "consequences" what I mean is a consequence that's felt. of course there's a real consequence, the Irminsul was burnt and is replaced by Aaru. but on the surface, it doesn't feel like anything changed.

The Solution?

Nahida should've fell into a coma/vegetative state.

Hear me out, I love our radish as much as ya'll do, but I think this story beat would've improved the 6.6 ending by miles.

Nahida is an untainted branch of the Irminsul. It's weird that she didn't get any consequences AT ALL.

So let's imagine how it would play out. The changes begin when Nahida summoned the shades. Ronova told her that this action might kill her or leaves her in a comatose state. then we returned to teyvat, the Sages told us that Nahida is in a critical state. she hasn't fully adapted to Aaru, and is struggling to stay alive. but they still felt her presence. The quest ends in an helpful note as we see Nahida's hand move a bit, confirming that she's still alive.

Then, let's time leap to the 7.x sabzerus festival. the event is not canceled, but there's an air of sorrow and depression as Nahida is still a vegetable. but over the course of the event quest, we search ways to fully revive nahida but nothing worked.. as things played out, we found ourselves becoming hopeless. but in the last moment, Nahida suddenly woke up still weak but recovering. celebrations erupt in the streets of Sumeru as Nahida made a speech (carried by the traveler or in a wheelchair idk). this would've been hype.

we can even delay it, let's change the part where she woke up. she invited us into a her dream space or domain, then we had a heart to heart interaction with Nahida. she said that her body is still recovering and she's close to the state before the Sumeru archon quest. she can visit dreams but can't move her body, she told us to not worry about her. she will do her best and return.

then maybe in 8.x when the traveller is in deep trouble, she woke up (and maybe even transform into a bigger form, probably wont happen because Genshin devs don't do expies/alternates) and she helped us win against the odds. It would've been so cool and this change would've added a real consequence without killing any playable chars. and players would feel a genuine consequence to the story.
