How is everyone finding jobs in Kingston right now?

I’ve applied to around 100 jobs over the past 3 weeks and have only heard back from two places. Unfortunately, I haven’t been hired anywhere yet. I’ve applied online, but I’ve also tried going around in person with resumes, only to find that a lot of businesses don’t accept paper resumes anymore.
I have experience in hospitality, customer service, animal care, and cleaning, and I’m Smart Serve certified. I’m honestly starting to feel pretty discouraged and would really appreciate any advice on places that are actually hiring or strategies that have worked for people in Kingston.
If you know of anywhere hiring, especially restaurants, bars, animal care, or customer service positions, I’d really appreciate the suggestions!

Am I actually attracted to women or am I just curious? 20F

I’m a 20 year old woman and I’ve been questioning my sexuality for about two years now.

I’m attracted to men, and that hasn’t really changed. I can see myself dating men, falling in love with a man, and having a longterm relationship with a man.
But for the past couple of years, I’ve also been thinking about women a lot. And honestly, it’s not just a little curiosity. I feel strongly sexually attracted to women. The idea of being intimate with a woman turns me on a lot, and I genuinely want to experience it. Sometimes I want it really badly.

I’ve never actually been with a woman, so I don’t know what it would feel like in real life. Most of what I’ve experienced so far has been fantasies and thoughts. I’ve also had a crush on a woman before, although that attraction was primarily sexual rather than romantic.
That’s where I get confused. I can’t really picture myself falling in love with a woman or being in a relationship with one. When I imagine my future romantically, I still see myself with a man. But sexually, the idea of being with a woman is extremely appealing to me…honestly, sometimes more appealing than being with a man.

So I keep wondering
am I actually bisexual, or am I just really curious about women? Can someone be strongly sexually attracted to women while not wanting a romantic relationship with them?
I’ve also wondered whether I’m “bisexual enough” if my attraction to women is mostly sexual. I don’t really know what label fits me, if any.

I’m not scared of being attracted to women or anything like that. I’m just genuinely confused because I’ve never experienced it in real life, so I don’t know whether this is something I actually want or whether the fantasy is just really exciting to me.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? How did you know whether you were genuinely sexually attracted to women versus just curious about the experience?

I don’t know if I can go back after what happened to my dog

I’m honestly looking for advice because I don’t know how to feel.

About a week after my young dog was neutered, I left him downstairs with my boyfriend’s stepmom while I ran upstairs for about four minutes. When I came back down, I was told he had somehow grabbed an entire corn cob off a plate and swallowed it.

The part that’s been bothering me ever since is that my dog has never stolen food off a plate before. Hes never jumped up and taken food off someone’s plate. We’ve had food around him countless times, and he’s always been redirected or waited. I also found out afterward that he was on the couch (which he wasn’t supposed to be), so I honestly don’t know what happened during those few minutes because I wasn’t there.

He was taken into emergency surgery the next day, and thankfully they were able to remove all five pieces before they moved into his intestines. He spent several days hospitalized, and between everything, the total bill was over $5,000. Thankfully, insurance covered a large portion of it, but it was still an incredibly traumatic experience.

What hurts almost as much as the accident itself is everything that happened afterward.
I never received a genuine apology or even a text asking how my dog was doing. She hasn’t reached out to check on him once. Instead, I heard different versions of what happened, and I still don’t actually know how he managed to get the corn cob because I wasn’t there.

On top of that, she said she hoped my dog would die. Whether she said it out of anger or frustration, I honestly don’t know, but hearing those words after everything my dog had just gone through completely shattered any trust I had left.

Right now I’m staying with family while my dog recovers because it’s much quieter, there are no other dogs, and it’s just a calmer environment for him to heal. Normally, I live with my boyfriend and his family, but now I’m seriously questioning whether I even want to move back.
I understand accidents happen. I’m not saying anyone intentionally let this happen. If she had immediately said, “I’m so sorry, I feel terrible,” checked on him, or shown any concern, I think I’d feel differently. But instead, I feel like I’ve been left to deal with the emotional and financial aftermath on my own.

Has anyone been through something similar where an accident happened while someone else was watching your pet? Were you able to rebuild trust, or was it something you couldn’t move past?

Edit i probably should’ve added this… oops

Her son also lives there. She had told him that my dog only got half a cob. She also told him that my boyfriend’s dad was there and they got distracted and didn’t see him take it. That was far from the truth. He ate a full cob. I have the corn they took out of his belly. And my boyfriend’s dad was upstairs with us. When I came back down and she told me he ate the cob, she was sitting in the same spot as when I left. Didn’t look like she moved.

Does anywhere in Kingston sell “in training” dog vests?

To start off, my dog is NOT a service dog. Not sure if there’s vests that say other things like “reactive” etc. I’m just looking for something that will tell people to back off when I am working with him through his reactivity.

Thanks!

20F trying to leave my 21M boyfriend but I can’t afford to leave yet. Looking for advice.

My boyfriend (21M) and I (20F) have been together for 2 years. I’ve decided I want to leave, but I don’t currently have the money or housing to do it.

Over time I’ve become more unhappy in the relationship. He regularly calls me names like “miserable fuck” and tells me to “shut the fuck up” during arguments. Whenever I bring up concerns, he usually tells me I’m being dramatic or insecure.

I feel more like his parent than his girlfriend. I have to wake him up multiple times for work, make his lunch, and make sure he has everything he needs before he leaves. Meanwhile, he spends most of his free time playing video games and I feel completely ignored.

He also uses my car every day for work and even told his employer it’s his car. Because he always has my vehicle, it’s made finding a job and becoming independent much harder for me.

I’ve also caught him repeatedly looking up other women on social media and watching porn after I’ve explained that it makes me uncomfortable. Instead of discussing it, he dismisses my feelings.

The last time I caught him watching porn, things got physical. He didn’t hit me, but when I had his phone he was wrestling with me to get it back and trying to hold me down. It scared me.

We have two dogs. One is mine and one is his. If I leave, I’ll only be taking my dog.

Right now I’m applying for jobs in my hometown and my mom and I are trying to find a place that allows dogs. My dad will let me stay with him temporarily, but only after I have a job lined up.

The reason I haven’t told my boyfriend any of this is because I’m worried he’ll kick me out before I have somewhere to go.

Am I wrong for keeping my plans to myself until I can safely leave? And is there anything else I should be doing while I try to get my life in order?

Looking for Dog-Related Work Opportunities in Kingston

Hi everyone,

I’m currently looking for work involving dogs in the Kingston area and wanted to reach out to see if anyone knows of any opportunities.

I have experience working in three different kennel environments and have handled dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments. I’m comfortable working with everything from shy and nervous dogs to reactive and aggressive dogs, and I have a strong understanding of dog body language, handling, and safety protocols.

I’m open to kennel work, daycare positions, boarding facilities, dog walking, pet sitting, training assistance, or other dog-related roles.

If you know of any businesses hiring or have any leads, I’d greatly appreciate it. Feel free to comment or send me a message.

Thanks!

Hi everyone.

I am in Canada and was going to get nexgard spectra for my 2 dogs, unfortunately from the vet it’s 306+tax for EACH dogs 6 pack. While I can afford that, I don’t want to spend that lol.

I’ve seen some websites for much cheaper, as well as Costco. If I can find something cheaper than Costco I’d love it.
I’ve heard some of these websites aren’t “LEGIT” so that’s what I’m scared of.

Any recommendations?
Thanks!

(I posted earlier this week but looking for actual resources or contact info)

Hi everyone, I’m reaching out to ask if anyone knows of any organizations, foster programs, rescues, or temporary boarding options that could help care for my two well-behaved dogs while I work on getting back on my feet and securing stable housing.

They mean everything to me, and I’m trying my best to avoid having to surrender them permanently. I’m looking for temporary help only until I’m in a safer, more stable position.

If you know of any local resources, people, or programs in the Kingston area that may be able to help, please comment or message me privately. Thank you so much.

Hi everyone.

I have 2 dogs, not sure if age, breed and size really matter but.. border collie x spaniel 55lbs 10months

Lab x chow 50lbs 1yr and a half

I’m looking for a good pet insurance company, and I’ve heard many people saying trupanion is iffy.

I looked up quotes and it’s pretty expensive for my one dog and not the other.

I’m in Canada if that matters lol

Thanks in advance!
