Was Panera a private equity failure?

Isn't the point of PE buyouts to acquire a fundamentally sound company, cost cut, and then sell it off to make a huge gain, but... this is all supposed to happen in a rapid timeframe though to maximize value.

I feel like with Panera, it got bought out ages ago, cost cut excessively to the point of death for more than a decade, and now the value of the brand has just nosedived hard to where who is going to buy this dumpster fire?

FWIW no one I know who studied accounting is unemployed

Just realized this. I know dozens of people from my undergrad and other friends I met and not a single one who has a BS in Accounting is unemployed, and 100% of them actively work in accounting. And these were all just normal people and even some terrible students. And everyone makes more than $60k

How do you guys even survive in San Francisco?

For any staff accountants or audit/tax folks who work in SF, I feel like even Big 4 salaries are not enough to cover rent there. How do you guys scrape by when rent is like 5,000+? Do you room with like 5 other people?

Am I blacklisted from PwC if I rescinded my offer two weeks before I was supposed to start?

I interned last year in tax and got a return offer to start this summer. I managed to get a staff accountant position and rescinded my offer two weeks before my start date because I hated tax. Wondering if I'm on a company blacklist now forever because that was kind of shitty. I was interviewing up until the last moment though so was begrudgingly going to return if I failed at getting other jobs.

Anyone here spent their whole career being a staff/senior accountant?

Interested to hear some stories. Anyone here just never interested in climbing the corporate ladder and felt like you earned enough as a staff/senior so never tried to advance?

Five rounds of interviews for a 60k position = humiliation ritual

Like wtf. Do I really have to be personally approved by EVERYONE on the team to get the job? So if four people like me but then one doesn't, then you're out.

Yes I went through five interviews for an entry-level staff accountant role and yes I was rejected after the 5th.

Why do some cities in China seem almost depopulated?

Like I watch this one streamer who's from a Tier 2 or 3 city and she sits near the pier/boardwalk over looking the ocean and even on sunny nice days there's hardly anyone walking along the boardwalk at all. Many times it's just completely empty.

Whereas in America, you would see people running, strolling, walking dogs in an area like that practically all day long. Or high schoolers hanging out.

What do you do for work?

I'm curious as to how people even get jobs in China aside from he obvious English teacher with a TEFL certificate.

Like how do people get sent by their company to China if they can't speak Chinese? And what companies will send people over there?

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Accounting and I'd love to somehow end up over there. From the US.

How to become a digital nomad with my degree + experience?

From the US. I decided on a career late and went to college very late. I graduated with a BS in Accounting this year at 28. My work experience so far is I have 6 months working as an Accounts Payable Associate, 6 months doing Audit internships (one at Big 4) and now more than 1 year working as a fully remote staff accountant (my contract ends this month and not sure if it will be extended or I will be hired for a full time salaried position).

I seriously hate living in the US for reason I'm not going to go into here but there's no way I want to spend my life in this country, and my dream is to work out of South east Asia. Can you guys help me figure out what I should pursue to accomplish this?

First legitimate review of Backrooms is negative

Article was posted today to publication InReviewOnline then promptly removed from the site, maybe because they realized they ran afoul of some review embargo rules. Anyway, I saved a PDF of the webpage and took screenshots so here you guys go. Ultimately critic says the film starts off great and fizzes out hard, then collapses in the third act and becomes corny/cheesy with the meaning they give to the backrooms
