as a Philly fan I have so enjoyed the hype we’ve gotten with our unbeaten run after the dumpster fire of the first half of the year. and all I heard from SLCFC fans was “what about us? ours is even longer!?!?” I haven’t had opportunity to watch you all and let me say “holy Schneicke!!!” wow. you guys deserve the hype. so now I’m rooting for a STL v PHL Cup final. it’s the game we all deserve

Big fan of my Mako3. However, a couple of things I wish were better. 1. The anti reflective coating seems subpar. 2. The bezel is super stiff. Really not anything keeping me from recommending this watch to someone. But, Orient community, is there anything I can do to improve these two issues?
ok going to put this one out for debate. tell me what you think. my opinion is that if they sell Neil Pierre next summer he probably is $8-$10 million with a sell on. however, if he keeps progressing with national team development, if the wait until summer 2028 he’s only 20 years old and likely will go for $30-$40 million. if he was a blue chip stock I am rating it as a Hold
Went to the pop up at WoS in Marlton last night. Tried a bunch of styles and sizes and talked a bit with the region Tudor rep. I’m not really a dive watch guy but I really liked the blue 37mm Black Bay 54 and the 39mm white dial with gold hand 1926. But I kept going back to the 36mm ice blue Royal. So impressed with the entire line

Much invested. The sn of the 10L movement says 1948. I know the hands are mangled so that and the crystal need replacing. Movement is running decently +7, 248deg, 0.9ms in dial up and slipping to less decently in other positions. Case has some service marks. Ok the weird stuff: emmywatch is showing the 10l so not sure how we have a center seconds here. There is this weird bridge on a bridge there in the center wheel but I haven’t seen anything like that in my searches. Also the movement sits loose in the case a bit. The movement has places for case screws but of course there’s no way to use them with this case so just thinking there were never screws. Any insights from the community?
Ok don’t roast me. Got a Benrus that possibly may have radium. Watch is running great but don’t want to open it up to replace the crystal until I am sure it’s not radium. Can someone recommend the cheapest Geiger counter to do the trick? Also, seems it’s a front loader which is why I haven’t dated from the movement
stopped into this antique store on the edge of the New Jersey Pine Barrens looking for a table and came across this little 1950s Elgin Tank. Running but super slow and low amp but it’s going to get a good cleaning and lubrication amd maybe a new mainspring. nice find for $20 so already not much in it.
hey all, pretty new to this and just disassembled this Bulova. just got this organizer from Amazon with 18 sections and snap loc sliding lid. like it so much more than the cake lid types. I know the other type is a little more convenient to quickly open and close but was nervous af the cat jumping up and sending everything to the floor never to been seen again. with this I just started organizing the parts and screws that go together.

This I got for $35 on EBay. 1949 markings on the 7AK which would be the last year of that movement. The dial is super clean so it’s possible it’s be repainted but even if I don’t care!! It’s so beautiful so really want to get it running. Haven’t dug into it just opened it up and the balance is swinging really smooth. It’s crunchy when trying to wind do stopped messing with it for now. No reason to make it worse. Setting time seemed ok. If there’s anything weird or important with this movement please let me know if you know
Hey all. If you remember me I’m the one that lost the date wheel spring and you all helped me find it.
Just wanted to give some update. Taking my time for sure and just got done the wash, rinse, dry process. Seemed to go really well. Have everything looking good and ready to assemble. Was feeling pretty excited so needed to slow down before doing something stupid. As Marshall from Wristwatch Revival says the great thing about being a hobbyist is you can put it down and come right back a day or more later. Realized I still need to buy a new crystal. Any recommendations for sources. I know Esslinger but any others to consider?
Also, take a look at the part on the sheet of paper. No idea what this is or where it came from. Just appeared in the parts case so any help what this little spring attached to a bridge of some sort. Maybe from the barrel??? I have no idea. That’s college ruled notebook paper for size reference.

Posted a few days ago about diving into the Orient 1323. I was doing great until removing the spring. Held it down with a flat stick and moved it slowly. And yeah it flew. Hit me in the chin and I’ve spent 2 hours looking. I’m sick to my stomach. Beyond getting back on the floor what are my options?
After much practice on the seagull and cheap sacrificial movements I am taking a shot at this 1960s manual wind Orient. It’s a 1323 movement but can’t find much information on it. Still only have $30 invested so if it becomes another practice effort it’s ok. It’s running but the timegrapher is showing -48, 245 deg, and 8.2ms BE (yikes). If anyone has some words of advice or encouragement I’m all ears!!
So having trouble with this wheel which is attached to a small gear on the dial side. I am not wanting to put some muscle here but it ain’t coming off. Any ideas? Is there a small retaining clip I’m missing?
I promised a review of my new Henry Archer Verden GMT Raven. I‘ve had it on m wrist for most of the last 7 days since delivery. Here is my personal review and some data.
Ordering and delivery: Ordered on a Thursday and it arrived on Monday. Coming from Denmark to New Jersey that is pretty darn quick. Was satisfied with the price and there was a 10% discount and tariffs included in the price.
Unboxing: Didn’t realize it included a very well made 2 watch travel case. Kudos to Henry Archer. Watch was packaged and presented well.
Stats: measured 39.1mm case, 47mm lug to lug, 12.5 mm height. this is 1mm difference on the lugs and 0.5 mm on the height from the website.
Setup: took a bit to get the time, date and GMT hand set up. Just going to take time to learn it so it’s second nature.
Finish and bracelet: it really is a well made case (sorry for the typo mentioned in comments!!) and bracelet. Sizing was super easy with the screws rather than pins and the sliding micro adjustment is simple. The dial, indices and hands are easy to read with the polished gold on the black dial. I wish the bezel was a bit more brushed rather than polished but I still like it. The bracelet has a great taper from 20mm to 16mm. Quick release spring bars make it easy to change. Female end links make it comfortable on my wrist. I have a 6.5” wrist and it feels just perfect. Not too small or too big.
Wearablity: I tried it out with a black sailcloth and a black and red NATO (both from BluShark) and they both look great. However, without the bracelet the inside of the lugs feel a little rough which you can feel with the straps.
Sundry: I am not a huge fan of presentation backs. Don’t really care as I can’t see it when wearing. But, for this price range, it’s a pretty decent view. The crown screws out and in easily. Put it on the time graph. Showing +14 sec/day, 308 deg amplitude and 0.1 beat error.

I get that if it’s a formal occasion it’s one of the dress watches, or I am working in the yard so it’s a beater. But when several watch choices will do, what are you thinking?
