A seemingly overlooked part of the Goku vs Nappa fight is that, after Vegeta tells Nappa to calm down, he starts to perform significantly better against Goku, to the point that he can trade blows with him and force him to counterattack. Goku even notes his improvement and states that the battle could take a while, at least without using the Kaioken.
This likely wouldn't have been possible if Nappa's power level was only 4000, since Goku would have been at least twice his power at that point. Hell, the fact that Vegeta thought that Nappa could beat Goku if he calmed down, despite previously confirming Goku's power level of over 8000, lends credence to the idea that he's much stronger than the guidebooks imply. It also helps that Goku had to use the Kaioken, which is explicitly stated to multiply his speed, to catch up to him at one point.
So what do you guys think?
If there's anybody who strictly consumes Super content through the manga, then they really do get screwed out of not having the complete story.
Then again, not having the complete story of RoF is probably a blessing in disguise lmao
In his base state, he was able to initially overwhelm Hit and fight SSJG Goku. But later on, he was somehow given trouble by base Frieza, who should be thousands to millions of times weaker than either of them. It was stated that Dyspo's movements were predictable, but that doesn't have anything to do with his power. He should still be able to just oneshot base Frieza if he has the power to fight God - Blue level characters. And since that fight happens across 3 episodes, it's actually more consistent than his initial showing in the ToP. So without the use of Light Bullet, it seems that his raw power is more around Base Goku level.
Although, when we get to his Super Maximum Light Speed Mode, it would actually be reasonable to place him at SSJB Goku level since, aside from overwhelming Golden Frieza, he was able to fight on par with Ultimate Gohan even when his speed was restricted.
But what do you guys think?

It's even more laughable and ironic that Vegeta's the one to remind him of these principles, when back then it was the other way around.
It's just blatant character regression for no reason.
Maybe they thought Gohan was evil or something lol.
At least Videl had a bit more competence.
We know that he stopped using the perpetual energy model because 17 and 18 were too powerful to be controlled, but surely, if he used that model for his own body, he'd be able to use that with no complications, right? I mean, it's his own brain piloting the thing, whereas 17 and 18 had minds of their own from the get-go. Where would the control issues come from then?
So couldn't he have just given himself the control and the power?
Or I guess the narrator was just lying for some reason? Even though the whole point of a narrator is to tell you what happens and what's shown to you?
This isn't the only evidence for Blue level Gohan, but it really doesn't get any more obvious than this.
I never skip the analyses, even when it's a Death Battle I don't give a shit about, because of these guys. They're always able to put up such a performance that it makes hearing about the most uninteresting characters sound somewhat appealing. It's helped by the editing of course, but they really do bring energy into the episodes. Which I can't really say for other VS show hosts tbh. That's just me though.
