So I’ve been dating a man who I think is the man of my dreams. We are compatible on every level, however he is a vegan and I’m an omnivore. I’m open to eating vegan dishes 2-3 days a week, but not cutting out meat completely and he knows this. He doesn’t pressure me to become a vegan, but he raves about the health benefits he experienced since going vegan around 6 years ago, due to his type 1 diabetes making him seek a lower inflammatory diet/lifestyle. We are both into holistic health but aren’t extremists (we like buying organic fabrics, doing sauna sessions, avoiding PFAS/forever chemicals in our cookware etc). He’s 35 now.
We are going to have a more serious convo about our preferences for raising kids. He’s already said how he doesn’t want kids eating processed food in our home, packing healthy lunches for school, which I’m fine with. I already know I want to raise them as omnivores to avoid them developing any aversions to specific foods, potentially leading to disordered eating. I also know kids can be super picky, so if they are inclined to eat more veggies than meats or vice versa, that doesn’t bother me. If he wants them raised as strict vegans, is this an incompatibility that’ll require me to leave him? Has anyone else had/has a husband where this happened? Any advice would be appreciated
Hi ladies. My boyfriend 34M recently asked me if he could meet with and ask my father for my hand in marriage. He is a traditional catholic and asked me where my comfort level is at with my family, I am fine with our relationship progressing-
The backstory is that both my parents have narcissistic behaviors which made me go no contact with both of them 3 years ago. Being in contact with them brought me unnecessary stress and they consistently sabotaged any joy I experienced in my childhood and early adult life. They hover once a quarter by emailing me about wanting to reconcile and claim to not know what’s going on that made me go no contact (even though I sent a detailed email to them years ago that they confirmed was received). They demonstrated lack of accountability and deflection leading up to me going no contact and it does not seem like much has changed. Overall they were not supportive since I was young.
My boyfriend knows this dynamic, and asked me where my comfort level is at since we both want to move to being engaged together and marriage. He said he would be fine with not meeting either of my parents, if meeting with them to discuss engagement and marriage would bring me discomfort and stress. I told him I would need some time to think about this and let him know where I’m at.
I know for sure I don’t want either of them at my wedding. It would ruin my celebration. I know I don’t want them meeting my future children some day because I don’t know what they would add to my future kid’s lives (I know it sounds sad, bc it is).
I formerly got along better with my father more than my mother, but he will always side with her on everything. I thought about maybe asking him to meet with my BF, but I doubt he would without my mother present. I also am worried if we bypass them, they would show up to my wedding and create chaos for everyone. I also think that they both could potentially offend my BF in some way if he does end up meeting them, bc they historically tried to divide me and my past boyfriends.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation and can offer advice?
MASPE is similar to MARPE but seems to be a slower more controlled expansion process. Curious if it’s better than MARPE.
