Leader of AfD in German state Thuringia wants armed Neo Nazis to be allowed back into the party

Sadly no English source I’ve found on this.

Another example of why the AfD needs to be banned

Aero leather advice?

Hey guys, I’m fairly new to this community and recently got gifted a leather jacket as a compound for birthday/Christmas from my family.
I decided on an aero leather jacket after some research since I want something to last very long, has high quality and I also love Scotland after having lived there for a year.
Now, I need some advice, since I’m relatively new to this community. I would like a leather jacket that feels and looks light and is thin, not a heavy biker style jacket. I’d prefer zips to buttons and like jackets that are sleeker, e.g. less stitches, extra zips or pockets etc. Collar wise so far liked the “normal” shirt like collar from the Highwayman or A2 for example but I’m also open to the cafe racer/J100 collars. For leather, I like a mid brown to chestnut brown tone and obviously want the leather to be as thin and light as possible, ideally at least partially vegetable tanned, so Horween Pinnacle and Vicenza probably, it I’m open to suggestions. I’d like the leather to be relatively soft and not bulky and stiff (as I’m trying to avoid the biker look)
I’m very tall and lanky so I need something that doesn’t feel like a potato sack on my body or makes me seem bulky, but also not something ultra tight to only exacerbate the landlines, something in between that can be worn casually over a t shirt or shirt.

Jackets I’ve liked so far are the

1930s premier highwayman
A2 Flight Jacket
Happy Days
The three racer jackets

I’d be super grateful if you shared your experiences, made some suggestions or told me about the feeling/thickness and drape of some of the Aero jackets!!
Your help is much appreciated!

Ending the debate for socialism in the Democratic Party once and for all

“The Dems shouldn’t seat people like Brad Lander, he’s a socialist”

This has been all over the sub for weeks and was even repeated by some Blue Dogs/Moderates, but people (as people like to do) throw around the term socialists like a big giant elusive buzzword that no one can seem to define. It’s been incredibly annoying because it distorts the debate.

To make it absolutely clear, if there were actual socialists within the Democratic Party, I would be in favour of not seating them in Dem committees/expelling them from the Democratic Party etc.

However, all of the people that are called socialist on here (excluding DAC maybe), are just Democratic Socialists or Progressives. They all support a mixed market economy with strong state intervention and a strong federal social welfare net in areas like housing, homelessness, healthcare and unemployment.
Real socialists advocate for seizing the means of production and establishing a state led, unfree economy. The modern Democratic Party was founded on the aforementioned progressive ideals, so the moderates are actually the ones who often seem to be straying the course.

The Blue Dogs and moderates are currently relying on such cheap tricks and dog whistles to try to win, calling their primary opponents or colleagues socialist or even communist or openly thinking of leaving the party or not seating their fellow Democrats. This is incredibly harmful to party unity in a country where big tent coalitions are needed to win with a two party system. Moderates and Blue Dogs should instead try to make compelling arguments for their legislative success, pragmatic bipartisanship and try to make a good case for their other views. They can and are absolutely needed for swing districts, as they tend to be more electable/perform better (something which they could tout too). It was always clear that the base would never tolerate moderates in their strongholds so this progressive populist revolution was too be expected, too maintain a say in the Democratic Party, the moderates must now focus on swing districts, lean/likely districts and red districts, all in suburbs and rurals that they could win over with their more moderate stances.

Sherrod Brown as a Running Mate/VP?

A lot of the 2028 Democratic candidates seem to be on the younger side or lack the regional appeal to the Midwest/Labour and WWC voters and rurals, because a large portion of them are either from the coastal states or from the South. Sherrod Brown will likely retire in 2028 if he wins his 2026 Senate race, he could have Bidenesque effect as a seasoned and experienced legislator and single handedly increase the chances in the Rustbelt and potentially expand the battleground to Ohio and Iowa, making room for a Southern or coastal Democratic candidate. He’s scandal free while rediscovering the Democratic base in a time where affordability and the working class, his pet topics, are at an all time high, and where his moderate views on the border, his normal foreign policy and his more populist economics could come in handy. He would also likely not want any more power than VP(never ran for president really), so there would be a natural way for an open primary after the Democratic president retires/gets defeated. He does lack the appeal to Hispanics, although through winning Ohio he has a natural talent of turning out African Americans in the Cleveland area.
What do you guys think?

Democratic senators and their likeliness to run for President in 2028

Margins:
Safe D=Campaign is very likely
Likely D=Good chance they’ll run
Lean D=Might run
Tilt D= Slight chance they’ll run

ME: Angus King is an indie and too old and never had presidential ambitions, other seat is R

NH: Both senators Maggie and Shaheen are pretty old, don’t have ambitions and Shaheen is retiring

VT: Welch and Sanders are too old and don’t have ambitions anymore

NY: Schumer likely retiring and Gillibrand focusing on Senate

MA: Markey is too old and without presidential ambition, Warren might run but she won’t get far

RI: Both senators focused on Senate

CT: Blumenthal will stay in the Senate, Murphy might run for leadership, but also decent chance he’ll run if his policy niche isn’t filled

PA: Fetterman hates the Senate, he doesn’t have ambitions, other seat is R

NJ: Booker will definitely run with all of his publicity buildup, really small chance Kim jumps in

MD: Van Hollen will definitely run for a higher position either for president or for Senate leadership, but probably the latter, Alsobrools is more likely to run imo

DE: Coons might try and Blunt Rochester is unlikely to run

VA: Kaine might try out a run but it’s unlikely, Warner probably not at all

MI: Slotkin will most likely run, arguably in the top 5 people that are obviously preparing for running, Peters is retiring

WI: Decent chance Baldwin tries but not a done deal, other seat is GOP held

IL: Durbin is retiring, Duckworth has a decent chance to try out a run

MN: Smith is retiring, Klobuchar is running for governor possibly to distance herself from an unpopular Congress and run for president

GA: Ossoff and Warnock both ooze presidential ambition, at least one of them will run but probably both

NM: Martin might try, Ray Lujan is very unlikely to run imo

CO: Bennet is trying the Klobuchar strategy but more unlikely to run that her, Hickenlooper doesn’t seem like he has interest

Arizona: Kelly and Gallego are both probably running, 100% chance at least one of them does, they’ve already teased it

CA: Schiff and Padilla are both known for their anti Trump stances and prominence in the Senate, they both are equally likely to run

OR: Merkley could run if his political niche wasn’t filled by someone else, Wyden seems focused on the Senate

WA: No chance that Murray will run, she’s too old, same with Cantwell tbh
