Just Got my 3rd Akubra

My Banjo Paterson in Heritage Fawn just arrived at a really good price from Everything Australian. It's instantly my new favorite after my Stylemaster and my Balmoral. I'm wearing the Balmoral as my daily go-to in this hot weather but I'm really looking forward to fall so that I can switch over to the Banjo.

P.S., don't tell my wife that I just bought another hat...

I'm guessing this isn't really a Tobias

Swiss knockoff, maybe? My wife bought this KW KS for me several years ago and it runs really well. It has crystals on both the front and back sides of the case and an engraved steel dial with poorly-painted numbers. The back case reads:

MJ TOBIAS & CO

LIVERPOOL

No. 16727

CYLINDER ESCAPEMENT

14 HOLES JEWEL'D

there are no marks on the movement or the inner case except for 16727 on the inner case near the hinge.

Has anyone used Watchrepairusa.com?

They're located not far from me NW of Chicago. I have an Elgin 150 that needs servicing because it runs well but has started to stop from time to time. Their site says their starting quote for a "complete overhaul" is $79. Has anyone used them for a routine cleaning and oiling that didn't involve replacing any parts? I'd like to avoid sending it in and then hearing back that they want $250 or more to service it.

Stylemaster

Acorn Fawn is a perfect match for my linen suit. I'm pretty sure it's going to go well with my winter tweeds as well. A very versatile hat, and my Mom likes it, too!

Dyeing Walnut Cadets

I just bought a pair of used Cadets on eBay. I couldn't resist because Cadets are my favorite style and the price was low, but they're colored Walnut and I already have a new pair of Cadets in that color. I'm thinking about dyeing them a darker brown using Angelus Medium Brown dye. Has anybody tried this who could provide some hints and tips? My current plan is to strip the finish using rubbing alcohol, clean the boots with saddle soap, apply the dye, and then recondition the leather with neatsfoot oil. I'm not shooting for any particular shade, just something that's darker than my Walnut boots.

Has anyone ordered from Borges & Scott?

I'm interested in their trilby (which looks like a fedora to me based on brim width) or one of their wide-brim fedoras. Their prices seem reasonable, but what's the quality like? I believe they're based in Bristol in the UK and are better known for their Panamas.
