I didint know what flair to put i suggest a flair like "advice" that would be nice. I already have p.scaber, p.spinicornis and a.vulgare. what are some other species that would be fun to keep that i could look for in my local forest? I live in southern poland.
This lancelet descendand developed a pseudocranium used for protection of the nerve chord and eyespot. Its is also connected to the notochord making a skull+spine like complex. It was used here as an example of an early lancelet to show its anatomy, and of its descendants. Its bucal opening has developed a function where it can expand forward wich is useful for catching fast prey. Bucal cirri are still present altho not used anymore. This species of lancelet is especially active in its lifestyle. Its a fast active predator feeding on bacteria. The hard headed lancelet is a breakthrough in lancelet evolution permitting the furthe evolution of landcelets.
The plocker (limusalit mayor) is a semiaquatic creature with a lifestyle similar to mudskippers. They have one pseudofin on their bellies used as a "leg" and a pseudoleg derived from their tail fin used for support as well as for jumping/moving in water. They dispose of (just like their ancestors who will be covered in a different post) a paraesophagus derived from an expanded bucal cavity used for feeding. The plocker is quite territorial forcing individuals to seek new places to live, and making them go even more foward onto land. They fight in a manner similar to elephant seals bumping into eachother and hitting each others paracarniums with their "leg"
Little pseudoflora sneak peak on one of the drawings haha
