Ok guys, in case someone is putting top-mounted slide-out waste bins (non ikea ones ) in a Sektion cabinet (Rev-A-Shelf, Hafele, Knape & Vogt or others) and wants to add a servo opener like IKEA Utrusta or blum (same thing ), there is a way to do it. Problem is top-mount bins hang from a frame, so there is no drawer back for the servo arm to push against.

I moved the servo all the way to the front of the inner cabinet (not at the back where it's intended to be), trimmed the bracket so the bins clear it, and built a small spacer from scrap wood, screwed to the back of the door panel (voxtrorp) . Light push on the door, servo kicks the spacer, whole pull-out opens. Nothing fancy (no one sees the spacer on the bottom of the door anyway), just a little hack. Been working for a couple of years, no rattle, nothing loose. I was skeptical it would work because the servo is at the bottom of the door, but once the door is lightly pushed it does activate servo arm and push the door, not all the way, especially if the bins are full , but enough to drop something into the first bin without touching it 😂

Put together a short clip of the install, timelapse of the mount going up and how it looks finished. While we were redoing our kitchen I snuck in a few B&O toys 😄 This is one of them: beosound 2 on the wall, on a bracket from STB brackets in the UK(got it on ebay ) .The in-wall iPad below doubles as the access panel, so all the wiring and power for the beosound runs in behind it. Nothing visible.It's linked to the rest of the speakers in the room, and the beoremote Halo is set up for quick dial (mostly TuneIn radio).

Super happy with how it hangs 🙂 More B&O stuff from this kitchen coming.

Guys, if you’re struggling with those hard-to-reach upper spaces in 24” or 30” IKEA kitchen sektion cabinets, I came across these pull-down shelves and realized the 24” and 30” sizes fit IKEA kitchen cabinets just fine .

I used Kesseböhmer / Häfele(same thing ) iMove pull-down shelves, and their 24” and 30” versions fit the IKEA cabinets like a glove — no modifications needed.

I installed one in a 24” and one in a 30” high cabinet in our kitchen because we could barely reach the top shelves. We’re not tall people 😂 so those spaces weren’t getting used much.Both pull-down shelves work really smooth, and now that whole upper area is actually usable.Install was super easy too. They came assembled with a template, and I’d say each one took maybe 25–30 minutes max.

Not sure if they make them for other cabinet widths, but the 24” and 30” versions worked perfectly in my sektion cabinets setup .They not cheap nowadays - got mine on ebay open boxes .

Just figured I’d share in case somebody else has the same problem.

Old project — finally got around to putting the photos together into a short clip.

90s bedroom, one useless closet. Four PAX frames became a single run with sliding doors, Häfele fittings inside including a pull-out ironing board hidden in a drawer front.

We built out the gap between the top of the PAX and the ceiling and closed it in, so it reads as one solid wall instead of a wardrobe with dead space above it. That filled-in section is also where the mounting brackets for the screen are hidden — nothing visible, the screen just comes down out of the ceiling.

Which was the whole point, because joining four PAX into one run left us with nowhere to hang a TV. A 10-ft motorized screen drops down over the closed doors instead. Watching basketball from bed at roughly life size was not the goal when we started. It is now the main feature:)))

The screen was a closeout with dents along the top housing — cheap enough that going 10 ft made more sense than going small. The dented section is buried in the ceiling where nobody will ever see it.

Been a long time and everything still works exactly like day one — doors, screen, all of it.

Only complaint: IKEA discontinued these white painted-glass sliding doors. I'd buy more tomorrow if they still sold them.

When I designed and built our DIY IKEA SEKTION kitchen, I built a dedicated small cabinet just for our special edition SMEG toaster.

Easy to reach, but concealed and hidden when you don't need it. It's all wired up inside so the toaster stays plugged in and ready to go.

Even got the Eva Solo crumb brush hanging on an IKEA hook on the back of the door — so everything stays clean and neat.

This was one of maybe a dozen custom details I worked into the kitchen. I documented the whole build as I went, so if you want specifics on the wiring, the cabinet size, or any of the rest of it, ask and I'll go into it.

This backyard has been an ongoing DIY project over several years. I poured and stamped the concrete in phases, then hand-colored many of the decorative features using concrete stains instead of leaving them plain. The compass medallion, butterfly, dragonfly, lizard impressions, and other details were all colored by hand. Here's a quick walkthrough of the finished result.
