Canonically Attractive women who underneath the poise and fanservice have scrungy and/or hilariously terrible personalities.

Characters who are clearly fanservice bait, but when you look past the attractive surface you see them as messy, chaotic, and hilariously terrible girl-failures.

The Examples

Emma Frost, The White Queen. A beautiful powerful telepath. Leader of the Hellfire Club. Sometimes ally to the X-Men, somewhat alcoholic, hilariously selfish, catty to everyone, has no idea how to be a responsible adult around her teenage students, and she sleeps like a toddler.

Faye Valentine. A sexy femme fatale, who also hates kids, animals, work, has a gambling problem, and she eats dog food.

Boa Hancock, The Pirate Queen of Amazon Lily. Who also takes her imperiousness so seriously that she literally looks down on people so hard she looks up and she'd literally punt a baby seal across the room like a football rather than take a single step to the left.

Y'all don't talk about this enough.

Back in 2010, BET produced and aired a Black Panther motion comic series. It was great show from the days before the MCU when Marvel was a lot edgier and more niche. It also had this absolutely fire song (Wakanda Weh T'Challa) as an intro. It's lived rent free in my head since the first time I heard it and it's a big part of why I like Black Panther as a character.

I noticed not a lot of people know about the show or this song, so I'm doing my part to correct that mistake.

Why Doesn't DC do more with Diana's connections to Pandora?

In Greek Mythology, after Prometheus gave fire to humanity, the Gods decided to punish Mankind. They took some clay and molded it into the first mortal woman, Pandora, whose name means "Gift to All" or "The All-Gifted," they named her that because each God gave her a divine blessing and she herself was meant to be given to mankind as a gift.

Hephaestus crafted her with a perfect body, Athena blessed her with wisdom, Aphrodite blessed her with grace and beauty, Hermes blessed her with cunning and deceit, Apollo blessed her with artistic talent, and so on until every God has given her with a gift to make her the perfect wife. And then she was given an insatiable curiosity and she was a box (technically it was a jar) and was told never to open it.

She was given to Prometheus' brother as a wife, with the knowledge that she would eventually defy her husband and open the box, unleashing all evils and sorrows onto mankind.

Diana's origin is obviously inspired by this as another child born from clay and blessed by the gods but instead of being a curse to mankind who released evil she helps mankind and fights evil. She's also a response to inherit misogyny of the original myth by being a feminist icon.

I think in George Perez's run he has a flashback sequence that's meant to imply that Diana is a reincarnation of Pandora, and I think in the current DC canon, since the New 52, Pandora is a magic anti hero who mostly does her own thing in the more mystical side of the DC Universe.

But overall it feels they haven't really done much with all of the thematic and lore connections Diana has to Pandora. There's no other Greek Myth that ties more directly to Wonder Woman's origin and theme than Pandora yet there's not been any content that I'm aware of that emphasizes that. Pandora could be a tragic villain, an arch nemesis, a lost sister, a past life, or anything. It feels like a gold mine for emotionally rich story telling that's hardly ever touched.

But what do y'all think? Am I just missing something? Is there an incredible Wonder Woman story that adapts the Myth of Pandora that I've never heard of?

EDIT: I completely forgot to include it in the title image is from Wonder Woman (Volume 2) #1 by George Perez and Greg Potter

An observation about Storm players and the new team up.

Not trying to gatekeep or start a war or anything, but I noticed there's a little schism between how Storm players view the team ups.

People who have been with Storm for a while and believe she's never been bad tend to gravitate towards Jeff team up. They tend to value the increased survivability more because they already know how to get value out of Storm's kit.

People who are newer to Storm (or people who tried Storm and couldn't click with her gameplay) and felt they were some fundamental flaws that warrant a rework tend to gravitate towards the Thor team up. They tend to want to use solid mechanical hitscan aim to play more like a traditional duelist.

Here's a copy pasted comment I said about my two cents:

Storm's problem has been her survivability. I'm a firm believer that Storm was never bad, but her positioning was super strict, and she needed to rely on her team to create space or provide sustain.

The rain addresses Storm's weakness and opens up her gameplay so much more. You can pop rain and boosted thunder to create space and force enemies to back up, you can pop rain and wind to escape danger, and you can pop rain on its own to recover without needing a health pack or needing a healer to look up. It completely enables different Storm playstyles and skill expression so much. I can hardly imagine going back.

Hitscan Storm has the same survivability problem she always had except her shots don't pierce anymore, so you're forced to play at higher angles and more aggressive positions, which exacerbates the problem that she's a sitting duck most of the time. Hitscan Storm can be useful if you keep losing a long range aerial duel with an enemy flier, but honestly, I think hitscan Storm is just a straight downgrade.

But from what I've heard from some of you've been getting pretty good value out of the Thor Team Up. So what are your thoughts on the team up? Do you also want to see it become part of Storm's base kit?

Possibly unintended interaction with the new team up.

I haven't seen anyone mention the fact that The Rocket Team up lets you fully restore your health damn near whenever you want. Using one grab on the ground is enough to build enough elasticity to briefly pop buff mode, and that fully regenerates your health. And you can just do it again in 8 seconds.

There's no need to go hunting for health packs while flanking anymore. You can literally just grow back your entire health bar every 8 seconds.
