$17k quote to replace a shower insert?

The insert I found at a kitchen and bath place sells for $1300. I had a GC stop by to give me a quote to install it. I was expecting it to come in around $4k max. He wants $17k. Does this sound right?

This is the work he is quoting

Demo, remove and dispose of existing tub/shower unit and associated drywall

Remove existing trim and set aside for reinstall (there is no trim?)

Install new water and drain lines for new shower

Install new 4-piece Fiberglass shower ($2000 material allowance)

Install shower base molding

Install 1/2" moisture-resistant drywall on affected bathroom walls

Tape, mud, and sand all drywall surfaces to a Level 4 finish

...This proposal does not include any painting

Reinstall existing trim

I'm trying to get rid of two grow lights and having no luck on Marketplace or pawn shops. Is there a market for used lights?

Both are Mars Hydro

Should I hire a handyman or a plumber to replace a shower / tub insert?

I do nearly all work on my home myself. This job is too much for me to tackle. I'm sure I could do it, but it'll likely take me a week and more trips to the plumbing or hardware store than I care to take.

I've never called in a handyman for a job, only plumbers or people who specialize in a trade. I'm not even sure how to find or vet a handyman other than a Google search. I think the right handyman would be cheaper and just as good as a plumber.

I just resurfaced my pine floors. What should I use to keep it clean after it has fully cured? And when can I allow my cats into the room?

It was a TON of work but worth it. I removed all stain and went with only poly.

Is there an easier way to dig out dirt from between my floorboards before I sand? Some of it is really packed in.

Options for adding a bow eye to an aluminum V hull.

It's a 12 foot aluminum boat which weighs maybe 50 pounds.

Since it's V shaped a flat washer is not going to work. A 4x4 block sits snugly on the inside so the V is pretty close to 90 degrees. I could cut a piece of wood for the inside. What can I do about the outside?

Could I install a bow eye on both sides of the V and run a soft loop tie down strap or hook a chain through them to the winch? That will avoid having to drill a hole through an angled piece of metal and the washers will sit flat.

Question about Toyota CPO Gold and factory accessories

I bought a used Tacoma. The dealer told me it had an aftermarket tonneau cover which had to be removed. After the sale I found out it was a factory cover which was removed prior to sale due to missing hardware. I have both the Monterey sticker which shows it was a factory accessory and the dealer's repair ticket which states the factory cover was removed and the truck bed rail covers were replaced because the rails which come with a cover are notched.

The 180 point inspection passed every check.

Am I entitled to a factory cover? Unless I'm mistaken factory accessories need to be repaired or replaced to be certified Gold.

The dealer claims I am not because they didn't advertise it with a cover and it was removed prior to sale. I think the advertisement did include a cover but I didn't take a screenshot of it and it's long gone.

I also only got one key fob. The sales person lied and told me I was only entitled to one. After ghosting me for three months the dealer is now correcting that and will give me a second key fob.

Advice on modifying a jet ski trailer for my boat

This is not a jon boat, but my Internet searches led me to them. I picked up a jet ski trailer and thought you guys might have some experience modifying them for your boats. The trailer is in decent shape.

What do you see going on here? I do need to put something between the front of the boat and the trailer to support the boat. I might be able to move the crank up the shaft of the trailer so the boat doesn't hang so far off the back. My boat is much lighter than a jet ski so weight isn't an issue and I'm using a battery powered trolling motor.

That crank has me a little nervous. Is it ok? Looks like someone cranked a little too hard and bent the bottom flange.

Where's a decent place to buy parts I need?

I just realized it's been leaking when it rains for quite some time. Lots of debris from nearby trees around the chimney. It's a mess.

I'm not planning to run my furnace until next winter but it's going to rain this weekend so I'll either have to put a temp patch on it or fix it today.

I'm going to contact FB to try to get her permanently removed along with all tags.

When it first started I asked her to stop. After three months she did.

A few months later she blocked me and started again. My mother asked her to stop and she did.

Now my mother is blocked and this person is tagging my brother again.

I'd like many people to report her posts so it will strengthen my case with FB to remove her from his friends list and remove all tags. My understanding is FB generally doesn't just do this with a request from a single person.
