One of the hardest things is knowing how to change the gender and plurality of an adverb/verb based on a noun later in the sentence. Is there something in English that’s similar where we make decisions based on words that come later?

I was thinking maybe phrasal verbs or choosing whether to say “do” or “is” when starting a question. Obviously since English is analytic, it will probably be more of structural thing than an individual word thing. Just it always seems magical the way Ukrainians know so clearly what they are going to say before they say it

Should Ви викликаєте у дев'яноста восьми цілих шість відсотків виборців відразу use шести instead of шість given the entire broader number is declined and the case of the predicate is genitive?

Can’t tell what adjective Flanders is saying before питання and can’t ask wife now. Help!

I hear Постає ціле *нескієтичне* питання яке можна розглядати…

I would think неетичне or нескінченне would fit best there but I hear sounds that aren’t in either. It sounds like a blend between the two almost

Would it be considered sacrosanct to read War and Peace in Ukrainian? While I know Tolstoy has some credit for being incredibly fascist and against Russian colonialism, I feel weird from the idea of reading a book that is considered a cornerstone of Russian culture in any language

Because there are no articles in Ukrainian when someone says я топовий колорист Полтаві is there an inherent understanding if you mean “я найтоповший колорист Полтаві” vs “я одний з топових колористів полтави” or is even that ambiguous

In English you have to commit to saying “I am a top colorist” or “I am the top colorist.” It’s kind of wild to me that a claim like that could be left as ambiguous. With a colorist it doesn’t really matter but if people are talking about something with actual rankings like marathon runner then it seems like a weird thing to leave your audience wondering about. Though of course a language giving you the option of ambiguity is usually a feature instead of a bug so I’m not complaining.

Why is “cherries” usually translated to Вишня when the overwhelmingly more common type of cherry and the type of cherry that people usually mean when they say cherry is Черешня?

Sweet cherries are much more common than tart cherries. If I say “let’s go buy some cherries” I’m going to be talking about sweet cherries or else I would say “let’s go buy some tart cherries.” It just seems weird that pretty much every translator and educational research gives the primary translation of cherries as вишні/вишня when there is a better word for it and it could end up confusing people when they want to go buy some cherries to eat and end up with a bunch of sour ones like that are only really good for baking with.

My wife says два неправильних вчинки is correct but can’t explain why. Claud is telling me some bullshit that’s clearly wrong. Could someone explain to me why the adjective is in genitive plural while the noun and number are in nominative?

Why is the poll that’s 51-40 marked as dem +10 but the poll that’s 51-41 is dem +11?

I always assumed there was some rounding going on behind the scenes but how can both be being rounded in opposite directions?

Any idea why loan words ending in -o are treated as non grammatical and don’t get declined instead of being declined like all -o words?
