8/16 Huron Peak

I know Huron isn’t the hardest or most interesting 14er but it really is just a dam good hike. And the views today were pretty incredible

More camping with the Bronquito

Said it before but ever since I got the 245s this car does feel dialed in. On the trails/roads it has enough clearance now and the KO3s are great

RTT is the iKamper SkyCamp Mini 3.0. Weighs 120lbs. Dynamic load is the car is 150. And I’m in Colorado.

Camping with the Bronquito

Been using the iKamper a lot this year as I camp before I hike Colorado 14ers and the longer I have the RTT the more I appreciate it.

It’s so nice to get somewhere and have the RTT ready in moments. Whereas my pops has a trailer he really likes and hopes one day I’ll take to it as well (with a different car of course).

The trailer is nice but it’s so much more work. I do love the convenience of the RTT

Camping with the Bronquito

I really do love this setup. Chilling here tonight. Hiking Missouri Mountain tomorrow. That’ll be like my 10th different 14er this year

Torreys was stunning today

Wanted to hike this today so I did the whole wake up early thing and got after it. Worked out well. Views were amazing and I had the summit of Torreys all to myself.

It is fun flying out of a smaller airport sometimes

Flew out of CLD, Palomar Airport which is in Carlsbad, CA. Tiny little airport and super convenient for people in North County, San Diego.

Been doing some more camping with the Bronquito

Taken it camping about five different times so far this month and because I have camped it’s help me access hikes like La Plata, Harvard, Lindsey and a random trip to Wyoming with my sisters family.

All in all it’s doing well. It’s just been remarkably good bit of kit.

6/21 Lindsey

Definitely not a walk in the park and oddly I thought the crux was the most straightforward and easiest part of that scramble

Really loving this car with the RTT and fat tires

Went out camping the other day and hiked Mt. Harvard the next morning and the car feels great. The 245s give just enough extra height that I don’t feel like I’m going to scrape on every rock or rut.

And the combined mpg after nearly 1000mi is 22.5. Not bad considering they are heavier. I drive in the mountains a lot and the RTT on top doesn’t help.

The Bronquito does feel great now and it still pulls plenty going up the mountain passes

What’s your preferred kit for filtering water on the trail?

I usually bring all my water with me at the start of the day but now I’m eyeing up a 13.5mi day hike and would prefer to save weight if I can. I’ve read up a bit on this but I’m interested in what you all use and any experiences you’ve had positive or negative with different systems.

Starting to get this dialed in

Got the 245s last week and have made a big difference. Little more clearance goes a long way and the car feels much more planted. Feels like I can unclench a bit on the forest roads.

RTT is great too. And I found a good campground. Got 5G and I’m like 20min away from the La Plata trailhead and I’ll be hiking that tomorrow.

So far combined mpg with the fat tires is ~23 and I’ve only driven at altitude being in the Colorado mountains and Wyoming

Just got the 245 KO3s installed

Been wanting to do this for a while and was finally able to get it done. The old tires were 225 AT4Ws which were good on the road but disappointing in the snow.

So far no rubbing issues if any. Tires fit fine and I’m going to take the car out for a camping trip this weekend.

First camping trip of the season

Was out for seven nights split between two campsites. RTT did great and a still appreciate how easy setup and breakdown is.

Got the RTT up

Went camping with my pops for about 7 days 8 nights. Starting to feel like a dirtbag who needs a proper shower. Car handled it great though even at high altitudes exceeding 10k

My pops brought his trailer and we camped in Gunnison and around Fairplay, CO.

I don’t tend to cook much but I got one of these hoping to cut down on take out costs and I gotta say I’m really happy with how it turned out. Just a simple chicken, no oil just seasoning really. Salt, pepper, cayenne.

20mins of cooking and I have a dam solid meal. Looking forward to getting back from a long day at work or after a long hike and cooking something up.

I’m thinking about picking up some K03s in 245/65/17 and I know those are a little bigger than the stock 235s that sometimes come with the car.

I’m wondering what the mpg drop is like. If there’s any rubbing. I’m also a bit worried about extra wear on the drivetrain from a slightly heavier tire.
