Went out to hallett last weekend with Apex. Managed a 1:27.6 CCW and a 1:29.4 CW which I’m super happy with since this is my first time on this track. Car did great but I’ll need some fresh tires and brakes before my next outing.
Catching up on my cousin’s deferred maintenance. Was my grandpa’s truck, then my cousin’s first car, and was gonna go to kars4kids before I stepped in.
All new front end, rebuilt the rear proportioning valve, freshly rebuilt driveshaft, fixed the wiring, and now she drives like new. Installing a roof-rack on the camper shell soon along with an awning donated from my dad and 350W of solar from marketplace. Planning on camping out of it on a few track days I have coming up which should work perfectly.
Only has 70K miles on it and hoping to get many more.
Wish these customers would just talk to the service advisor or me about what needs to be done instead of putting this AI slop on their tickets.
Been doing some searching and haven't found ant definitive answers, but what reinforcement will i have to add to an ARE fiberglass camper shell to mount ~120lbs of roof-rack, awning, and solar on top? Can i just add some large, thick fender washers on the underside or will i need something like unistrut to distribute the load?

‘06 cayman having a very bad day. Came in for an odd noise, sounded like it was in the bell housing and while the TOB and dual mass flywheel were trash, replacements didn’t fix the noise. Pulled the oil filter to this sadness. Likely a failed IMS chain guide which is odd since cam deviations were within spec.
Did a road trip with dad from TX-TN for a track event and tail of the dragon. Had a blast and both cars did amazing. Car is a ‘25 and now has 39K miles on it (more than dad’s 911 lol), and I can’t think of a better daily that’s this competent on-track.
I replaced the front chassis with the hinges on my childhood XL a long time ago but it seems to be slightly too big and is a different color/texture than the OEM plastic. Does anyone know of a better part I can replace it with and also where I can get new hinges? My screen has a bit of play when open.
