This is my golden retriever, Rosie. She turns 5 in August.

This morning I found a large, hard lump under her chin after she winced when I pet her. She’s been lethargic, drooling, barely drinking water, and seems to have trouble using her tongue.

I’m terrified because six years ago my previous dog developed a very similar lump in almost the exact same place. It turned out to be an aggressive cancer, and we lost her just two weeks later.

I’m trying not to assume the worst, but I can’t ignore how similar this feels.

The timing couldn’t be worse. I’m recently unemployed, my account is overdrawn, rent is due in two days, and I can’t even afford the exam fee to get Rosie seen. I’ve applied for CareCredit, loans, and every resource I can think of, but I’ve hit a wall. I currently don’t have pet insurance, and applying now would require upfront payment or a waiting period. I plan to get her insurance after this.

I called my local free clinic and explained everything. They were kind, but they only offer services to pets belonging to people who are unhoused or disabled. But because I’m not technically homeless… I don’t qualify for help.

I can’t even walk into a regular vet or emergency clinic without money upfront.

All I want is to take her in asap and ensure her condition doesn’t deteriorate. If you feel compelled, please help.

I hate making this, but I’m in a really difficult spot and could use help.

2025 was one of the hardest years of my life. I had to move 5 times because of unsafe living situations. Once from an abusive relationship, and the others from a retaliation case against a landlord that followed my attempts at relocating. I plan to take legal actions against them after resolving my current situation. Nevertheless, Earlier this year, things finally started stabilizing. I secured safe housing, and started trying to rebuild my life from scratch. In that time though I ended up taking on a lot of debt just to survive and pay for moving costs.

Then I got into a car accident that wasn’t my fault. The driver who hit me was uninsured, and because I own my car outright and didn’t have comprehensive coverage, I’m stuck covering the repairs myself. My trunk no longer closes properly, and the damage has made transportation stressful and difficult.

And now, on top of everything, I’ve just lost my job. I have nothing in savings. All my money was going into paying off debt.

My rent is due in 4 days, and I’m honestly terrified. I’m actively applying everywhere I can and trying to stay afloat, but right now I’m overwhelmed and out of options. I’ve been working gigs, but I won’t make up the difference in time.

I created this GoFundMe originally to help repair my car, but at this point it’s helping me survive while I try to get back on my feet again. I have housing, I’ve applied for unemployment (My claim won’t process until the end of the month, I applied for emergency consideration and was denied, I am trying to appeal it), and I’m receiving food stamps. My only emergency is upcoming rent. I have the majority, I just need $1000.

I’ll include photos, documentation, and the repair estimate for transparency.

Any help — even small donations or simply sharing this — would mean more than I can express right now. I’ve never had to ask for help like this before and I hope I never will again.
