Headphones advice (ignore the flare)

So I’m pretty sure I’ve posted here before but don’t remember the recommendations, so I thought I’d post here again, my apologies lol, so I have cerebral palsy and along with that comes a high startle reflex, anxiety etc… so could anyone recommend me some headphones or earbuds with a long battery life and that can dull, sudden yelling or screaming ( I attend an adult day center ) dogs barking, fire alarms and anything else that could be considered LOUD… yes I’m aware that no headphones/earphones block out all noise completely unless they’re paired with ear plugs or something else but I just want something to take the edge of the noise/lower it … the startle reflex causes me pain at times , but also I need to be able to hear if someone is talking to me or yelling for me … I ringing in my ears due to high frequency hearing loss , so that makes it even tricker, I’ve looked into the sony1000xm6 and the bose Quiet comfort ultra 2nd gen so far

Startle reflex

So before I even start this post I want to mention I obviously have cerebral palsy myself, also I deal with a startle reflex and I know that It feels like your brain/body is on fire when you’re startled. Now that that’s out of the way, like I mentioned getting startled is not fun or funny but does anyone want to share I guess what they’d consider their funny startle reflex moments or when someone felt bad for startling you? Just trying to lighten up this topic in general because I know it SUCKS

Anxiety and cp

So I have anxiety, I know everyone does in this world but I was just thinking does anyone carry around something to help with their anxiety, I know it’s common in other disabilities but I’m specifically meaning just people cerebral palsy ? What do you carry around to help combat the anxiety? I always have my headphones with me so I can listen to music or use them to turn the world down due to my anxiety, but I’m just thinking what else I could carry to refocus the anxiety, mini logic puzzles , mini scented fidgets, pain fidgets for distractions , little stuffed animal ? Throw some ideas at me or tell me what you have

Dentist

Has anyone that has gone to the dentist ever been “called out” for doing it? I seen a video yesterday saying that dentist know when you smoke and all kinds of other things and this habit was on there , so has anyone ever had attention drawn to it ? I have to go to the dentist this month and I don’t want it brought up or asked if I do/ or have ever done it … what’s your stories/advice ? I would be so embarrassed honestly

What’s your audiobook speed

I’m trying to get into audiobooks and I was watching videos about different people’s audiobooks speeds and how their partners are shocked at the speed of the book. So what’s yours and what did you start on

What’s the best coffee cup

So I’ve recently gotten back into drinking hot coffee and I use a walker, what coffee tumblers or cups do you use to take your coffee on the go, and won’t splash me if I end up shaking it a bit, also a bonus would be a handle on the top instead of the side so I can carry it easier, but if the cup is very forgiving about getting shaken around, a side handle would be perfectly fine, thankyou for your help and advice ❤️

Question about feeling a younger age I guess

Does anyone with cp not “feel” their age? I’m in my 20s but I enjoy younger minded things, I have a learning disability from cp but that’s it, I think having interests in younger minded things like tv shows or whatever else is a comfort for me and just quiets the anxiety of this world.

Hi there, rant and question I guess

So I’m pretty sure I’ve made this exact same post here before but I don’t remember so here we go again, I have a high startle reflex as a lot of us cp peeps do 🤷‍♀️ I also have a lot of ear pain possibly due to etd (Eustachian tube dis function) and I try to wear ear plugs /ear phones etc to block out noise for the startle reflex which doesn’t help because I can’t hear with them on due to my ear issues, so I have to take them back off and deal with the startle issues, also I know this is going to sound super dumb, but I guess I don’t feel “disabled “ enough to wear ear defenders or noise canceling devices, idk what else to say does anyone have any ideas on what I can wear and still be able to hear with having ear issues because sometimes it makes the startle reflex worse when I can’t hear well, and I go to a day center which has fire drills sometimes argh, I’m just at a loss throw suggestions or ideas at me. Also does anyone with JUST cp wear ear defenders or headphones to cope with noise, like I said I just don’t feel like i guess I’m “disabled” enough to use them. I promise that’s not coming from a place of judgement it’s just the best way I know how to explain it

Learning disability question

Hi there so I’m 27 and I have a math learning disability, I’m going to say it’s dyscalculia but I’ve never been officially diagnosed as it cost a crap ton of money to do so, I have Trouble counting money, time duration, trouble with learning directions or land marks, knowing if the numbers of temps is hot or cold , like is 50s hot or cold , is 40s cold or freezing etc. anyways I’ve tried abc mouse and that’s too young for me, I’ve tried adventure academy, too young , does anyone have any FREE resources or games app wise they can recommend? I’ve tried the regular khan academy but it sucks that it isn’t as fun as kids versions of games lol, but anyways my math skills are all over the place, I still count on my fingers, I can count change but still struggle when my anxiety gets high . I’m getting better with time duration and other skills as time goes on but I’m still all over the place, just like this question
