Carnivore diet while on psych meds

Im wondering if I need to dial back. I jumped into a carnivore diet a little over a week ago. I want to try this way of eating to help my mental health and also to heal my gut. Things have been ok overall. I’m enjoying this way of eating. I supplement with a pack of lmnt daily also magnesium at night , salt my food and drink a good amount of water. I am on psychiatric medications right now. I’m currently on seroquel. I didn’t check with my psychiatrist about starting a carnivore diet which I realize now probably wasn’t the smartest idea. My psychiatrist is out of the country until June so I can’t get in touch with him. I’m just scared bc seroquel elevates insulin levels and here I am jumping into this way of eating and I realize that this could potentially be dangerous. I don’t want anything harmful to happen to me. Should I introduce a small amount of carbs until I see my psychiatrist in June when he arrives back to the states? I guess I just want to make sure I’m safe. Thank you for your help

Bloating on carnivore

I’m extremely new to a high fat carnivore diet. I’m talking a week in. I started this diet to improve my mental health and gut health. I was previously on an old school body building diet and it wasn’t doing me any good. The first few days were awesome when I started carnivore! No more bloat! The last two days though I’ve noticed some serious bloat and I just feel unwell digestive wise. I was having liquid diarrhea initially but now my body is trying to form actual stool. I must mention that I suffer from ibs-c and slow motility thanks to my psych meds, which I still take regularly. I also take a medication called motegrity and ibsrela to help with my chronic constipation. I think these two medications mixed with the diet are causing me problems with digestion. I didn’t ease into this diet I simply jumped right in. I’m not sure what to do. I know if I call my gastroenterologist they will discourage me from participating in this diet . But I’d like to try . Feeling lost right now. Any suggestions?

Guys I’m in trouble

By the approval of my doctor I stopped taking my olanzapine 2.5mg with a taper. My psychiatrist told me to just stop at 2.5mg but I decided to go even a slower. So here I am 4 days since my last dose of olanzapine and I’m feeling the anxiety and mood swings and restlessness. I also within the last week developed a severe case of shingles ( I’m 38 years old female ). My primary care physician ordered prednisone for me. I questioned my primary care physician about the prednisone, he knows I’m withdrawing from olanzapine, I asked if the steroid would make my withdrawal symptoms worse. Basically he said the decision is up to me and if I decided not to take the prednisone to then see dermatology for my shingles. Now the other problem is my psychiatrist is out of the country until June. I called my psychiatrist office two days ago to talk to an on call psychiatrist and left a message, no one called me back! What am I supposed to do?! My pharmacist thinks going through withdrawals, shingles, and stress from both may be too overwhelming and said to reinstate the olanzapine. I just don’t know if I can restart the 2.5mg all at once which is why I want to speak to a psychiatrist. I’m fucking screwed. I am not getting straight answers.

Post follow up: I was finally able to speak to a on call psychiatrist, they definitely help me come up with a plan going forward, anxiety is down for now. Thank you all for trying to help me through this time.

Shingles?

I’m 38yo woman. I have bipolar disorder and I am being treated with seroquel 300mg and currently tapering off olanzapine 2.5mg , my psychiatrist is aware. I started tapering olanzapine 2.5mg a couple weeks ago, not cutting pills but taking 2.5mg once every three days and last night was my final dose. Three days ago I noticed a skin rash on my left arm, inner armpit area and as days have passed the skin rash has spread down the arm and feels like sunburn and lots of pustules. I also have a horrible head ache and left forearm pain. Could the withdrawal/taper of olanzapine cause this rash or shingles? Also, my psychiatrist is out of the country . He will not be returning to America until June. What do I do?

Olanzapine withdrawal

With my doctors permission I’m tapering of olanzapine 2.5mg. My last dose was last night. I’m very scared. My biggest concern is how does one know the difference between relapse vs withdrawal symptoms? Idk if I made the right decision. I can’t call my psychiatrist because he’s out of the country until June. This is my second attempt to come off olanzapine. I’ve been tapering since last summer with guidance from my psychiatrist and here we are. I also take seroquel 300mg just an fyi. I just want to prepared for the bad days

I’ve been taking seroquel since July of 2025. I currently am taking seroquel at night, 300mgs. In many ways this medication has been a miracle for me. However, come this January when i was increased to 150-200mg i started getting what i think are side effects. Suddenly my body didn’t have the urge to poop anymore and it would be days in between bowel movements. My stools have also been extremely soft, I haven’t had a solid bowel movement in months. The stools are soft and difficult to get out when I actually do go to the bathroom. I went to my gastroenterologist. They have me on a motility medication called motegrity, another chronic constipation med called ibsrela and I’m also taking MiraLAX daily all because of the side effect of chronic constipation and slow transit constipation. I tried fiber supplements to bulk up my stool and it totally back fired on me and made the slow transit even worse. Long story short, the motegrity motility medication stopped working about ten days ago. I keep passing soft blobs of stool but again no urge to defecate just feels like something is stuck. Anyway, has anyone else had these problems on seroquel? It’s like my body decided we will never poop normally again. I was also evaluated by pelvic floor physical therapy multiple times, everything seemed normal to them. My psychiatrist is out of the country until June so I guess I’m stuck like this until he comes back to America.

I started taking motegrity for the second time about two months ago. I also want to be upfront and state that I take psychiatric medications olanzapine and seroquel. The seroquel has given me even more slow motility ( hence the reason I started motegrity ). For my slow transit constipation I take motegrity 1mg, Ibsrela 50mg twice a day , and a capful of MiraLAX daily. When the motegrity was working I would have very satisfying bowel movements like within an hour of taking it. Something has shifted though. I noticed about a week ago I wasn’t having regular bowel movements and when I did have bowel movements my urgency to poop was very faint. I would simply go to the toilet using my squatty potty and would prepare to go to the bathroom because “it kinda” felt like had to poop. When I do poop my stools are pencil thin. My stools are soft and I can never clean myself 100% which drives me insane. I eat very healthy, mainly vegetables and protein. I’ve done pelvic floor physical therapy multiple times. I’m taking so many meds. I am miserable with the bloating and unsatisfying bowel movements. Idk what i expect out of this post . I guess I’m just looking for advice. I just don’t know what to do anymore 😞
