Using college refund for non-educational purposes. Should I?

I recently got a refund (2k) from my scholarship since my tuition was already paid for. I'm going to be a college freshman, and I should be getting refunds from 2 other outside scholarships later in semester (5k in total). I plan on using them to pay for about 2-3k left of my tuition each year my last 3 years since I would no longer have my tuition waiver. However, I am having this strong urge to use it for a kpop concert I really want to go to and I've been waiting for years to go to eversince my childhood (plus flights/hotels, maybe around 2k).

I'm really tempted to use the refund money. Is this too irrational? Or should I go yolo and use it? (I live off campus at home with my parent)

Arlington D2 got so luckyyyy

I went D1 and I'm still not recovering...I would've loved to hear butterfly live. At this point, I'm thinking about going to LA to see them again, but it would cost too much for flights and hotel.🫩💔 Am I being irrational right now or go yolo and go to LA? Sighhh

For CHEM 1451, there is no comprehensive final, right?

The syllabus states that there are 5 exams, and the 5th one only covers Ch. 9 and 11. Just wanted to make sure from anybody else who has taken CHEM 1451 (I'm taking Tanizaki) that there is no comprehensive final exam.

Nervous about joining clubs. How do you just start joining clubs and overcome the fear?

There are so many clubs at the college I'll be going to as a freshmen. I've heard it's recommended to have one for your major, and another for other hobbies that are non academic and for socializing.

I've been so focused on handling issues concerning my schedule that I totally forgot about which clubs I am planning to join when classes start next Monday. I plan on looking up the first meeting dates of the clubs I want to join and adding that to my calendar to prepare. Just nervous about starting over and learning to socialize with new people all over again.

I joined a club at my local cc during high school, but I was used to that environment and it was smaller. Now, I feel nervous, like it's a totally different environment where I'm alone this time.

Are all Canvas Courses supposed to be showing up by now?

I only have 3 of my classes showing up in Canvas. The other ones, Nutrition and Chemistry lab, isn't showing up yet. Should this be a concern if they haven't showed up by now? Or is it one of those things where I just have to wait until the official first day of class?

Rate my class schedule for fall (and if I should pick 8am option or not for one of them)

Nutrition is online as an 8-weeks course at beginning of the semester, and Medical Terminology and Promoting Healthy Lifestyles is also online but for the whole semester.

Chemistry is the only class in person with lab on Mondays and lectures on Mon/Wed/Fri.

I've decided last minute to add Intro to Nursing course to my schedule, so I'm currently on waitlist for the 8-weeks online section starting in October. Otherwise, there is an in-person section available as well on Thursdays from 8-10:50am that lasts the whole semester.

I'm debating on whether I should still stay for waitlist for the online section, or just enroll in the in-person section to secure the credit now. Would it be doable if I added an in-person lecture from 8-10:50am on Thursdays to this schedule?

I don't think I can continue this break from lashes any longer😭

I've been taking a break from lashes after my previous lash extensions, so they've been gradually falling off.

I just had an id appointment so I took my picture without lashes...and I look chopped. Like I should learn to be okay and love the way I look naturally, but dang I look so different especially with my asian eyes😭

I miss my lashes so much, I think I'd rather go put them back on after that appointment. How do I keep going with this break? It's deadass getting hard. There are days where I just embrace how I naturally look and days I feel just not so great.

Should I take on one more class for this fall and spring of next year to maintain full-time enrollment?

For my scholarship, I need to maintain 12 credit hours per semester and 30 hours per year. I originally enrolled in about 16 credit hours, and dropped one after I asked my advisor about full time enrollment hours. I should've kept the class, but I dropped it when she told me I only needed 12 hours per semester, so now I am enrolled in 13 credit hours for fall (and planning 13 for spring as well).

However, I just realized that if I end up dropping one of the science classes because it gets too hard or something, I could lose my scholarship by dropping below the 12 credit hour requirement per semester. This is especially a concern for spring semester where I plan on taking pathophysiology and microbiology together (advisor doesn't recommend it, but I think I can lock in since I've taken a hard professor for A&P before and I did well in his class...but it's still a concern since the class is tough).

This is my current schedule plan, and now I'm wondering if I should enroll in the intro to nursing course at my university for fall (I'll be on waitlist for now until it starts in October as an 8-weeks course) and possibly another psychology course for my minor just in case in spring.

Fall 2026:

- Chemistry for Health Science Majors, Nutrition, 2 upper elective courses (Promoting Healthy Lifestyles + Medical Terminology)

Spring 2027:

- Pathophysiology, Microbiology, Psychology minor course, Intro to nursing course

How can I add more to my resume for nursing applications in the future?

I plan on applying to my college's nursing program next year by June, and I don't have much healthcare experience (although my college relies strictly on a point system with no regard for experience, so it's not a holistic review). I want to gain experience so that I have something to provide when I apply to other nursing programs as my backup.

I am going to start volunteering at my local hospital consistently again next week, but that's my healthcare experience so far. I want to get my CNA license as well, hopefully during the beginning of the semester before it gets busy later on.

What else could I do to further strengthen my application for nursing programs that do a holistic approach with their applicants?

I got an email about a refund for a reason I don't know

I just received my financial aid package from my college (they have been experiencing lots of issues and delays so lots of students financial aid are being delayed right now). I also got an email stating that a refund has been generated from my account, but I'm confused as to why that's the case.

I recently got a tuition exemption applied to my account due to my high school class rank, so I don't have to pay anything for tuition since it covers that. I also have a $5,000 per semester scholarship from the college, so maybe the refund could be from that? I don't know though.

I know it's more free money, but I'm confused why and I don't want to use it if it was an error. Should I email or talk to financial aid in person about this?

Is this tuition cost normal?

I calculated my total tuitions costs (including my parking permit which costs $612) and the total was $6,450.45. I'm taking 13 credit hours with one being chemistry which has lab, and I'm in-state.

My scholarship of $5,000 per semester also got applied, resulting in $1,833.45 as the charges due. I did my calculations and it lowkey doesn't make sense. 6,450.45 - 5,000 would equal about 1,450.45. Why is there 400 more added? Is that normal or am I missing something?

How do I quit lash clusters and extensions altogether??

Midway through high school, I got lash extensions and started doing clusters afterwards. Lashes gave me a "glow up" and have really boosted my confidence, but its getting to the point where I dread leaving the house if I'm not wearing my lashes, and when I do, they are constantly falling out (especially whenever I remove my clusters even with a lash remover)

I recently got lash extensions like a month ago, and most of them have fallen off by now, so my eyes look a little naked. I didn't care much to book another appointment for refill since I was taking a summer class, but it gave me a chance to gradually lose the lashes literally. But I just met one of my friends today who usually see me with lash clusters (the clusters look natural and fit my eye shape so it's not toooo extra), and I felt so unconfident. (I would've rather avoided her but she ran up to me.😅)

I thought I was slowly getting used to myself without lashes, but I still feel terribly ugly without them and I literally look more asian (I'm vietnamese lol). And my face looks rounder (lashes help to even out my facial proportions too).

I'm about to start college in the fall, and I don't know if I have the confidence to go without lashes. Or go naked to an upcoming kpop concert (I might just use strip lashes). I really want to try to grow my lashes, and I have been using a lash serum, but it's really hard to just avoid putting on lash clusters since my asian lashes are so thin.

🫩How long will it take before I get used to this? It really is painful and is making me realize how much I've relied on lashes like they're my everything.

Worth it buying Upgrade Lot 49 for uta parking as nursing major?

I'm debating on whether I should buy the upgrade or general annual permit option as an incoming freshmen. (I'll be studying nursing)

Most of my classes for fall (and planned classes for spring) would be at University hall, Chemistry/Physics building, and Pickhard hall. My earliest class this semester is at 11:30 on Mondays only, and I plan on going to UTA 3-5x a week.

I was originally thinking of getting upgrade, although I realized that the price is double the price of general just to be able to park at the very front of lot 49.
