AC battery storage with local Home Assistant integration?

We are looking for a solution where we can add an AC-coupled battery to our current PV setup. First priority is to have a good HomeAssistant integration (either via Modbus or a local API) working locally as we live in Germany and do not want to rely on some vendors’ cloud which might go down and erase our data / automatons forever.

It’s mainly about being able to make some automatons from HA like starting your washingmachine whenever you battery is full, controlling how much you charge/discharge depending of electricity price etc…

Hey all! Anyone here running an AC battery (with HA) in germany? Which one and which protocol modbus or api local? Also just wanted to ask about the SB Max ac, does anyone have experiences how well it works locally vs only working via app/cloud? It says it can connect to various apps. But i havent gotten further than testing for compatibility yet. Any input would be great!

Interesting charger Q&A: the questions might be more valuable than the answers

I came across an older charger Q&A video that raised some interesting questions about charging technology.

For example:

*Are expensive chargers actually better, or is it mostly marketing?

*Why do some chargers cost significantly more than others?

*What does GaN technology really change?

*And how should we look at the specifications listed on the box?

I think the questions themselves are worth discussing because they touch on some real topics: the difference between engineering improvements and marketing claims, whether higher prices actually bring measurable benefits, and how we should evaluate charger performance.

I think it works better as a starting point for discussion and verification rather than a final answer.

My new windowsill roommate 😅

I was only going to leave it here for a day or two while figuring out where to put it. It's been a week now and somehow it kind of works next to the cactus...

just want the world to know she exists

This is Mochi. She's on my phone wallpaper, my laptop screensaver, and now my wall charger.

I will not stop until she is on every screen in this apartment

^(I took a picture of my cat, just like in a post from a few days ago)

My wfh setup changes every few months

I move around the apartment a lot during the day. Desk for focus work, couch for calls, kitchen table when I need a change. I used to unplug my macbook charger and carry it with me every time which got old fast.

Picked up an Anker Prime power bank and then the charging base a few weeks later. The base sits on my desk, I grab the bank when I leave, drop it back on when I come back. I thought the dock was unnecessary when I bought it but just dropping it on the base instead of plugging in a cable every time adds up

What's in your pump bag

I feel like no matter how carefully I pack I'm always forgetting something when I leave the house. Right now my bag has my wearable pump with the charging case, extra flanges, storage bags, a cooler bag with ice packs, a cloth for wiping down, and my phone charger because I always watch something during sessions. The nice thing is I don't need to carry a separate pump charger since the case handles that part so at least the bag isn't even heavier than it already is. I feel like there's something really obvious I'm missing and I'm going to find out the hard way one of these days.

Exploring large screen options for orchestral scores (iPad Pro vs tcl nxtpaper 14)

Recently, I have tried to find ways to optimize chamber music and orchestra rehearsals, particularly something that would allow me not to waste any time in fast passages.

Currently, my dilemma lies between following the standard option represented by the 12.9" iPad Pro and using one of the bigger alternatives optimized for reading, such as the TCL NXTPAPER 14.

The reason for my fascination with NXTPAPER 14 is quite simple – it's basically its screen. In theory, having a matte and paper type of a screen might be less straining for your eyes throughout the 2-3 hours rehearsal process, as well as more comfortable for making instant changes to your written notation.

But I'm not quite sure whether it is all true in practice.

Is there anybody out there who uses a 14.3" matte tablet as part of his routine?
