Millipede? Centipede? Friend or Foe?

Please be nice. To preface, I have actual entomophobia, which makes my plant hobby really hard. I’ve actually been to therapy about my bug aversion lol, I’m not scared of them but seeing them and being too near them makes me literally throw up. I cannot help it.

I made this terrarium today out of things I already had because I was gifted this fern and fittonia for Mother’s Day. I’ve had these plants and I don’t particularly care for them. I’m familiar enough with them to know I won’t water them enough, or be able to provide the humidity they need outside of a closed environment. Hence the emergency terrarium.

The potting medium is mostly peat/shagnum, plus some bark and a dash of clay/pumice. I took a scoop from the center of a rotting tree stump in my yard as well (and made sure to pick out the slugs). I collected about 20 isopods from my yard too.

After a few hours to settle, under the flashlight I see springtails (I think), isopods… and these monstrosities.

I can mentally handle the springtails and roly-polies, but the centi/millipedes are really freaking me out and I can’t sleep with them in my house unless I know they’re A: not going to escape the sealed jar and crawl into my ears, and B:provide something beneficial to the terrarium.

My favorite podcast just made a “business deal,” and I’m so disappointed because video is no longer available on Spotify and ads are embedded in the podcast. If I want to watch I have to see YouTube ads, but even if I just listen they’re there. I pay for Spotify to avoid this crap. And I used to contribute to their Patreon because it’s a fairly small podcast and I wanted to support the artists. I canceled the Patreon today because even the videos on there have the fucking ads.

And I expressed on their page that I was disappointed and why I would no longer be contributing to their Patreon and everyone else is acting like it’s just a totally fine and innocuous thing to pay for a service because it allows you to avoid ads, then getting ads anyway.

I almost don’t even want to listen anymore because it’s put such a sour taste in my mouth.

My false indigo bloomed last week and I’ve had a visit from this lovely lady every day since.

(Also is there even a chance this is the same bee I see every day or is it probably different bees?)

Unfortunately I have no pics of my hair from mid 2023-24 because I was pregnant/postpartum and wouldn’t let anyone photograph me lol.

I started bleaching/coloring my hair around 2008 and did not give it a break for 15 years; I’ve gone from platinum blonde to vivids more than once (home bleaching of course lmfao). I genuinely didn’t know what my real adult hair color was until very recently. I always kept my hair shoulder length or above because it was so brittle and I had so much breakage that it looked like shit if got any longer. I thought I had really thin hair tbh.

In an effort to save money and time I decided to stop coloring my hair for good in October 2023. I had my stylist bring me as close to my natural color as possible and then didn’t touch the color again (the color didn’t hold for long and I was left with a very straw blonde for mooooonnnths).

I have been chopping 2-4 inches off every 4-6 months so growth has been slow, but I’ve finally got all of the bleached hair out I think.

As for care/maintenance, I use Garnier Pure Clean shampoo and Pantene moisturizing conditioner, then argan oil on damp hair, twice a week. I try to very how it is styled (I wear it down a lot, but I switch between braids, buns and claw clips). It only rarely gets heat styled, maybe once a month and I use very low heat settings. I sleep with silk-satin pillowcase with my hair in a single braid (I tried bonnets but couldn’t sleep with something on my head).

Today’s photo was just a blow dry on medium heat with Garnier Diamond Sleek spray; the 2025 pic I believe was air-dried and brushed. My natural texture is fairly wavy (last pic).

I’m not sure if it is as red as it appears in these photos or if that’s just from the paint change in the bathroom. It is so soft and silky now and I actually like a lot of hair. I used to joke I only had four hairs on my head but it’s pretty thick when I’m not destroying with heat and chemicals.

I used to get a piercing every year on my birthday, but I’m about five years behind and I’ve been wanting to update my set up. I was thinking a second tragus on the left could be cool, and the right definitely needs something else. I’ll be putting a hoop in once they’re healed, I don’t like wearing posts.

Please, please, please don’t spoil past chapter 76! I’m making a new post because I can’t risk browsing the sub and getting spoiled but I neeeeed to talk about this story.

Holy shit. I love this.

There is not one character that I find uninteresting. Even if I dislike them, I’m never, ever bored by their individual scenes/stories. Besides Kaiman(obv), Fujita and Nikaido are probably my favourites. En pisses me off, especially the way he treats Chota (who I adore lmao), but again I want to know more about him and I still really enjoy his role in the story (I’m banking on him coming back to life and I’m so excited to see what that will be like since his contract with Nikaido is broken).

The relationships between the characters are so compelling too and I am very obsessed with Shin and Noi. It’s only been a few chapters since Kaiman was changed back (?) into Aikawa and it’s breaking my fuggin heart.

I literally did not know anything about this story, like not even the basic plot premise before I started it. I’m very new to manga (I’ve read Berserk, Fire Punch, and Chainsaw Man) and this was recommended to me. I was not expecting to find one of my new favourite works of fiction in these pages.

The art is so, so, so good; I don’t have enough nice things to say about tbh. Plus, I’m very, *very* nearsighted (even with my glasses lol, people don’t realize it until they see the font size on my phone 😂) and sometimes I struggle with Manga because the panels can get really muddied to my eye (Berserk was really difficult for me to decipher sometimes) but I don’t have that problem with this one.

I still have about 100 chapters to go and I can’t wait for the rest of them. I really can’t predict what’s going to happen (especially with so much to go!) and it’s very exciting lol.
