Why can’t Giant hire people like those at Trader Joe’s

Just ran through Trader Joe’s first, then the Giant. The folks at TJ are so friendly and always greet customers with a smile. They are helpful, they bag grocers as they scan and always thanks custard the end of the transaction. Giant on the other hand … their checker never looks in your direction, never says a word through the entire transaction, scowls the entire time and might as well kick you in the ass on the way out. Not to mention that they don’t bag as they go, so all your stuff gets handled twice … really poor from a productivity point of view.

Don’t Be Nice, Be Predictable

I can’t tell you how many times lately, I’ve been waiting to make a left turn, or transfer from a yield-merge lane to the main lane of traffic, and someone has stopped in the middle of the road to be “nice.”

Fuckin stop. You are impeding traffic. I’m trying to time my movements based on your predictable behavior based on you following the law of the road. Do not just stop in the middle of the road without signage or obligation to yield. It just causes more traffic snarls.

People turning or merging have the obligation to yield. We’ll be fine. Predictable driving is safe driving. Tell your old people.

Why No Sign?

Why isn’t there an exit (entrance?) sign leading to the beltway from University east but d to the outer loop of the beltway? The only sigh is overhead 1/8-1/4 mile before. And it’s way to the left.

Loud Diners

Ate a a fancy steakhouse in Rockville. Smallish dining room. Mostly booths and tables for 2 or 4. Several tables were pushed together for a gathering of 12 20-30 somethings having a really loud and ruckus conversation including howling and laughing really loud. Couldn’t hear ourselves over their noise. Other tables were staring at them and obviously upset, too. Management wouldn’t say anything to them. Offered to move us to the far corner. But it’s a small dining room and the noise would have carried. I got up and asked them (angrily, to be honest) to tone it down. Several other guests thanked me. On the way out, a different server from ours thanked me, too. Just a terrible experience and a waste of $$$$.
