Diabetes and Ninja Creami
I just came back from my dietitian appointment at our local hospital, I asked the dietitian about the Ninja Creamis I've been making. I want to share for anyone who's watching their weight or their blood sugar. The good news is my sugar levels and my weight are down since my last appointment last fall. The dietitian said if I make Ninja Creamis with fresh fruit, coconut cream, plant based yoghurt or coconut milk that's okay. He said to watch the portion size. He recommended that I eat only half a mango or 2 or 3 strawberries at a time to keep down the intake of sugar. So when I made a Ninja creami with a mango coconut yoghurt and a small amount of cream cheese that's okay as long as I keep the portion size small. I put only a teaspoon of honey in the Creamis. I asked about making them with lactose free milk and lactose free cream and he said that's okay too (I'm lactose intolerant)
The Virus of anti Semitism (from the Spectator)
Article from the Spectator magazine
https://www.vogue.co.uk/article/francesca-albanese-when-the-world-sleeps "Then, when she was little more than a year into the job, came October 7, and a deadly attack on southern Israel by Palestinian militant groups. The events of that day, and the staggering violence unleashed in response, saw Albanese become a near constant presence on news channels, reiterating again and again Israel’s obligations under international law, and the responsibility of its Western allies to condemn its violation." Nothing here about Hamas killing 1200 people and taking over 200 hostage. In fact, there's no mention of Hamas at all.
Dear All,
A week and half ago one of our canaries died. My husband noticed it had mites. We bought Johnson's anti mite extra and treated our other 6 canaries and our finches.
My husband has been checking the birds for any more mites. Today he found several on our oldest canary who have put in a cage by himself. Yesterday we sprayed the bird and his cage with the Johnson's. It looks like we need something stronger. I called the vet but the vet's didn't have any mite medication. Can anyone suggest please a medication that will eliminate the mites? Thanks.
I was just thinking of the attempts to get Hannah out like the attack on the school where she was in the west, the attack that was stopped by the Gilead forces. Given how high profile June was in Canada working with the US groups, wouldn't they have tried to rescue Hannah again before she reached the age where she would be married off?
I know it's suspension of disbelief, and once Atwood wrote the Testaments book Hannah/Agnes was going to stay in Gilead and be sent to plum school. And Hannah/Agnes wasn't going to be reunited with her parents at the end of the Handmaid's Tale show. But I would think if they hadn't had the timeline imposed by the book and then the plans to make a sequel show Hannah would have been rescued after June reached Canada and started working with high up Americans. What does everyone think?
Maybe the story after the Handmaid's Tale could have gone differently with Hannah going back into Gilead to work undercover with Mayday like Emily did.
https://proteanmag.com/2026/04/01/two-poems-7/ Here's a poem published in Protean magazine by Mejdulene Bernard Shomali:
"every morning i wake up in my hamas bed and i drink my hamas coffee before brushing my teeth with hamas toothpaste. the tines of my comb spell hamas and i run it through my knotted hamas hair. it goes without saying that i get dressed in hamas and check my hamas phone only to learn about hamas giving birth to another new sibling. the Pope was hamas and the dentist was hamas and the journalist was hamas and the poet the teacher the child the father the mother the sister the brother: all hamas. i can still get eggs and bread which i fry in a hamas skillet and serve on a hamas plate. in Palestine hamas does not eat and in the soulless amerikkkan empire i choke. at work in my office i am draped in hamas and i know this because no one here cares if my family lives or dies in a “tragic mishap.” they cannot see my hamas tears on my hamas face and my hamas words are illegible to colleagues and students and doctors and deans. my dog is hamas when he climbs into my lap and nuzzles his nose in the crook of my neck. by the transitive property the cat is also hamas. everything the light touches is hamas and everything i feel is hamas and everything you don’t is hamas. yesterday i held a hamas vigil for my hamas heart by which i mean i screamed into the night and because my rage is hamas the police came to enforce the noise ordinance. the earth is hamas when it grows something despite every attempt to kill it. the sea is hamas because it refuses to be contained. god is hamas when she counsels mercy. after i die my body becomes hamas and the unmarked grave is hamas and my last will prays from the river to the sea and my spirit watches and waits for Palestine to be free."
I looked at this and went WTAF. For one thing, it isn't a poem, it's a rant that sounds like it was written by a teenager with a hateful attitude problem. For another, Shomali lives in the US.
"In honor of last week’s reading, we’re thrilled to present two poems by Mejdulene Bernard Shomali that narrate the precarity of Palestinian American safety and satirize the absurd lexical tactics that the Western media deploys to justify genocide." For heaven's sake, Americans aren't being bombed or threatened in any way by the conflict. This is why I despair looking at the crap that gets published by poetry magazines. I don't just mean crap as poems: this is really juvenile hatred incitement, especially in light of the stabbings that took place in London yesterday and the recent attacks and killings of Jews in the US.
Omer Bartov’s book “Israel: What Went Wrong?”has just been reviewed in the Guardian. This paragraph quoted by Camera UK made me gasp: https://camera-uk.org/2026/04/29/guardian-gazology-excuses-antisemitism/
I find it hard to believe this isn't a spoof. Even worse than things I saw on social media during the controversy over antisemitism in the UK Labour Party under Corbyn.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cq6jn8z84y2o I tried making a sorbet in the Ninja Creami with a Buzz Ball. I had to throw it out because it tasted so disgusting. It's been the only creami that came out completely uneatable. I just put the cocktail in the container and froze it. I don't think mixing it with anything would make it less inedible.
