should i also upgrade monitor res even if i have a 1080p pc

my pc has an 5700 xt and an r5 5500, a 1080p build. i want to upgrade my moniter to have better color display, and a higher refresh rate. would upgrading to a higher res be a good choice in case i upgrade in the future or do i still stay at 1080p cus watching movies on 1440p or even possibly 4k would be cool even if i cant play at those lvls yet. ive heard 1080p looks worse on a 1440p moniter also but it is really that bad as i hear?

any advice would be appreciated

I got this game last year and have been in love with it. i love how the map is very condensed in areas and is ginormous, the combat and story are great as well. i also love the first person perspective as its my favorite way to play games

do you have any recommendations for games similar to cyberpunk or at least with some similarities?
