At the moment I'm doing one painting a day and loving it!
Meeden oil pastels on hot press watercolour paper.
Meeden oil pastels on The Langton hot press watercolour paper painted with a bright pink acrylic undercoat.
Not sure about this one, my partner doesn't like it, he said it's too pale for his taste, but someone will probably like it.... 🤷🏼

I enjoyed painting this so, so much, it's been 2 weeks since I discovered the joys of oil pastels and I'm totally hooked, it's also helped me get my mojo back and feel joy about creating art again.
I saw these posted on a vegan account on Instagram a couple of weeks ago and thought for sure my local Iceland wouldn't have them, popped in today, in the blistering heat, and lo and behold there they were!!!! Not in the ice cream or desert section, on the other side of the shop for some reason, next to the sausage rolls 🤷🏼
Anyway, I rushed home as fast as my little trotters could carry me in 26°heat and gobbled one up just for you.
There was something about my last upload that I wasn't happy with but couldn't put my finger in it, then my partner came home and said the colour of the background didn't go and he was right, so I painted over it in a dark colour to make the flowers pop, I think this works much better, what do you think?
I couldn't edit my last one hence this post, I've added the before photo too.
I had high hopes for this but its not exactly how I envisaged, no matter what I do I can't stop my paintings from coming out a certain way, they all have a certain style that is instantly recognisable, and it's not exactly what I want, I was trying to go for an impressionist style.
Anyway, it is what it is.... Is it OK?

I get so jealous when I see posts of amazing vegan things people buy in Tesco,, Sainsbury etc, all I have here is very small versions of Asda, Morrisons, Lidl and Iceland and they only do the bare basic vegan items, like tofu and some chicken pieces, and even then only 3 items out of the entire supermarket, I can't get vegan pizzas or ice-cream, none of the cafes will do vegan cakes, it's a miracle if they even do non dairy milk, I've taken to carrying around a pot of vegan creamer powder that I bought on amazon.
I have to cook everything from scratch, I don't have any vegan treats or snacks.
Whilst it's good that I have improved my cooking skills over the last 6 years, sometimes I just want to slob out.
Despite all this you'd think I'd have lost some weight, in fact I've put on a stone, just to rub salt in the wounds 😩😩😩😩
I live in a 1970s time warp, I call it Royston Vasey from League of Gentlemen.
I bet people didn't even realise there were still towns like this in the UK.
I live off leftovers, and in this heat I've just been eating salads with steamed potatoes or rice and a protein of some sort, tofu, vegan "chicken"etc, somehow haven't lost a single lb !!!! 😩😩😩
Anyway, I only cook for myself so every other day is leftovers 😁
I want to do a series of different NHIs, starting with a Grey
Just sharing a little painting I’ve been working on this week.
Loved making this peaceful garden path with the bright blue shed tucked in among the flowers, its a garden I visited recently in my towns open garden weekend.
Hope you like it too, Let me know what you think.
I'm not sure about this one, I did it on oil paint canvas textured paper and it was AWFUL, its meant for oil paints but with oil pastels it was a nightmare, it was hard to blend and layer the pastels because they just slid around the paper like melted butter, but anyway, it's the last one from my week of trying oil pastels for the first time so I'm including it.
The sun was shining through the sunflowers in my friend's garden so I had to paint them, I tried very hard to capture the glow of the sun with the limited colours I had.
Oil pastel on pastel paper.
Seeing as my absolute hyper focus/obsession is anything to do with aliens, UFOs and alien abductions etc I thought I'd have a go at painting a Grey in oil pastel.
My friend, who is also obsessed with aliens etc now wants me to paint him a reptilian so I think I'll have a go at that today.
For this one I did a lot more blending than I did with my landscapes so this was quite a learning curve, I haven't seen any tutorials really so I just made it up as I went a long, I'm a great believer in there being no right or wrong in art.
This was on pastel paper which seems to be my favourite ground to use.
This was the fifth oil pastel painting that I've done.
