So Annapurna Eligibility Criteria is finally clear!

After so much of vagueness by this government regarding its flagship scheme Annapurna Bhandar. Finally they have officially clarified the eligibility criteria
1> The Applicant must reside within West Bengal.
2> Applicant’s age should be between 25 and 60 years.
3> Applicant must not be getting either salary or pension from state or union government.
4> Applicant should not be paying income tax.

Finally the criteria has been set on Applicant’s eligibility instead of her entire family that means if applicants husband works in government job or pays income tax, then also the women should be getting annapurna bhandar which is welcome step.
Let’s discuss if anyone or their family member didn’t get money despite fulfilling above criteria.

Does health insurance makes sense for me M(27)?

I work in IT and earning 1 LPM+. My employer provides me with health insurance upto 4 lakhs and term insurance of 50 Lakhs.
My parents are in the age range of 50-60s and i already have separate policy from HDFC ERGO for them.
Does it make sense to take policy for myself as well, considering i will keep working for foreseeable future and even if i switch, my next employer would take care of that?
I know policy would be cheaper for me, but i am healthy right now and wouldn’t require any hospitalisation most probably. But my age actually increases, they will increase the policy amount, so why not take the policy only when my age has crossed a certain threshold, that way I don’t need to spend money on earlier years on health insurance and i can rely on my corporate policy for any emergency?

Need some help as I am thinking of moving my salary account to HSBC from Axis bank.

I am currently earning 1 LPM+ and having Axis Bank as Salary account. I don't see any value in them and they even deducted debit card charges. I mean can you believe, deducting debit card charges while maintaining salary account with 1 LPM+? I have escalated directly to PNO but I only keep getting response that they are working on my issue since last 10 days. I am fed up and want to move to some other account.

I checked HSBC offering and my company also has tie up with them. My question is,

1> 5% Debit Card Cashback Offer: I saw that HSBC is offering 5% cashback on debit card spends above ₹1,000, but the offer is valid until 31 July. Does this mean:

2> HSBC Live+ Credit Card – Shopping Cashback: After recent revaluation, the card offers 10% cashback on Shopping and Utilities.

3> Utilities Cashback: For the 10% cashback on Utilities, are there any specific platforms that need to be used for bill payments?

Thanks

I am done with Axis Bank. Please suggest some good salary account.

So I have been Axis bank customer since my college days and used to maintain 10000 rs balance and give them annual charges of debit card and their infamous consolidated charges.
After that i got into corporate and decided to use same account, for few years i was not charged anything but today I was charged 236 rs debit card charges out of nowhere. And yes despite having 1 lakh plus salary, i am still using their rupay card, they only upgraded my banking to prestige salary, which I don’t understand what prestige is there in it.
I have already escalated it and they might reverse it but i am tired of having to expect basic minimum service from a leading private bank. Please suggest me some other banks.
No HDFC as i am already using its savings max account as my investment account.
Thank you

There’s a huge problem with people not understanding importance of Mobile number and companies exploiting them.

I have noticed how mobile number for a person is becoming such an important thing. Everything is linked with your mobile number. Your bank details, all government services, id cards and most important Aadhar based otp which allows us to identify us for so many things, you only need once to go in aadhar center and get your mobile number linked. But people specially from poor or lower middle class background are not understanding importance of this and its causing them big headaches, issue and even financial loss in some cases. As telecom companies have become so strict with mobile number reuse, anyone who is not recharging, after 90 days their mobile number will be permanently gone and may be transferred to someone else. Now imagine, if that person need to avail any government services which requires aadhar linked mobile number otp. How much harassment is is for him. I think there is very less awareness on this. Government should mandate that companies can stop the services if people don’t recharge but transferring it to someone else is really a disaster waiting to happen. Telecom companies should atleast introduce some low cost recharge plans like 100-200 rs per year just to keep sim active. I hope people who specially are non techy soon understand the importance of keeping their primary phone no active otherwise its very big headche for them later, specially prevalent in families where they will recharge for only one sim out of 4-5 people. Hope people understand.

Why are so many students still choosing B.Tech in Computer Science?

I've been working in IT for around 5 years now, and one trend I've noticed is that the number of people required to do the same amount of work keeps shrinking.

When I joined as a fresher, I received a lot of guidance, mentoring, and time to learn. Today, I barely see any freshers being hired in my project. Most openings are for candidates with at least 3–4 years of experience. Our project is fast-paced and clients expect quick delivery, so experienced people make sense. But this seems to be the case across many projects now.

Entry-level opportunities are disappearing much faster than people realize.

At the same time, I’m seeing private colleges massively increase their Computer Science intake. Colleges that used to admit 100 students each in CS, Mechanical, ECE, and Civil are now taking 300–400 students in CS alone, while other branches remain largely unchanged. It is happening in most of the private colleges.

My question to parents and students is: where are all these graduates going to find jobs?

The IT market already feels saturated. Earlier, service-based companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and others used to hire majority of the freshers even from tier 4 colleges. Even they don't seem to be hiring at the same scale anymore. So why are so many people still investing ₹8–10 lakhs (or more) in a CS degree when the return on investment looks uncertain?

Unless you're studying at a good college with good placements, choosing CS today is very risky. Even professionals who are already working in IT are under constant pressure. Layoffs, cost-cutting, automation, and AI have made job security a real concern. Nobody knows exactly what AI will do in 2030.

I'm not saying people shouldn't study Computer Science. But students and parents should be aware that things aren't as good as previously. Private colleges will continue increasing seats because it's profitable for them. The real issue will be faced by students and parents specially those from lower middle class who is going to take loans.

  1. Complete orange line metro and asap and aim to complete metro till Barrackpore by 2031.
  2. Remove private old diesel buses and launch around 2000+ EV buses on Kolkata roads which can bring revolution in urban transportation.
  3. Remove the politicisation and unionisation of autos. Make them apolitical with fixed fare and route.
  4. We are lacking in expressways. We need atleast two greenfield expressways with 120 KMPH speed limit connecting north south and east west part of bengal.
  5. Wish to see work on Delhi-Kolkata bullet train.
  6. Bring product based companies and GCC to Newtown.
  7. Remove the club and party culture from bengal. If i need to take admission in college, i should be able to take that based on merit. I shouldn’t have to go through some political party like the case was with TMCP earlier.
  8. One small and insignificant one, focus on improving the aesthetic of bridges, buildings. I don’t really like blue and white scheme.

These are things which directly affects me. Comment yours
