Persona larping got so bad the BBC is doing it 🙏
From an article about the new Valve VR headset
yes, I’m the President of the United States of America 🎉
What do we think about this?
Apparently it was found in the game files and honestly I’m excited. Fortnite have done well with collabs recently so we should hopefully be getting items that actually look accurate.
Just beat the game for the first time and… wow.
I just completed my blind playthrough with pretty much zero prior knowledge, and this is now my favourite game and perhaps piece of media altogether. What a genuine masterpiece. AMA if you want.
I FINALLY BEAT OKUMURA AFTER 2 MONTHS
It took a lot of trying but I think I had a really good team setup / strategy in the end, so if anyone needs help then do let me know, a lot of guides for this fight are super vague.
PROVING Jax is trans
A lot of the discourse I’ve seen surrounding the confirmation that Jax is a trans woman is that it wasn’t explored in the actual show, but this isn’t true. I wanted to make a post to highlight all the implications that I could find and prove that it is implied and that the writing does exist for anyone who missed it, doesn’t understand, or is denying it.
Episode 1: Jax says “ladies first” before taking it back and pushing Gangle, implying she is trying to convince herself of her masculinity, and that it’s better than femininity. One of the pilot merch releases was a jumper with Jax’s face reading ‘you go girl’.
Episode 5: Whilst the maid outfit would normally just cause frustration, the fact Jax flusters suggests there’s other emotions at play. Maid outfits are also somewhat prevalent in online transfeminine culture.
Episode 6: The line “I’m just a chicken foetus in an egg that needs to be cracked open” is a direct reference to the idea of trans eggs and would be a weird metaphor in any other context. Jax also says “there’s nothing more to me, so please stop looking”, showing that she thinks she’s gotten too close to Pomni and is scared she might figure it out - this is further backed up by her saying she regrets telling Pomni a lot and doesn’t look forward to thinking about it in the same scene.
Episode 7: We see Jax visibly ashamed of her room, which are implied to represent what the characters hate (Pomni being infantilised, Zooble’s dysphoria, etc). The fact her room is very typically girly and overly cutesy is a sign she’s suppressing femininity. She hallucinates herself with no clothes when she almost abstracts, which could link to dysphoria.
Episode 9: The whole Ribbit scene. Jax says she told her mother something personal that she mocked her for, which is implied to be coming out as she mentions masculinity in the same story. The blush when Ribbit gives her the bow (right after trust is mentioned) suggests euphoria, and following cartoon logic, bow = girl / blush = girl / bow + blush = girl. This shows that Ribbit has seen through her mask and figured out Jax’s identity, which becomes her driving force for pushing her away and denying what happened to the point she abstracts. The chained door in Jax’s mind that the versions of her tell to shut up represents her femininity, solidifying that she’s suppressing it. The maid version of her in her mind also says she’s wearing it unironically, as an excuse to validate wearing it. When Pomni enters the final room with the lamppost, Jax not only says “you know everything now”, but also says “why are you still here?” and “you’re not supposed to love me”, which both harken back to her experiences with her transphobic mother and how that’s impacted her. The use of Isn’t She Lovely is actually important as Stevie Wonder wrote the song about the birth of a girl - suggesting Jax finally accepts her identity as Pomni hugs her. In the real world, Lee is visibly boymoding; growing out her hair, wearing baggy and androgynous clothing, and covering her face in photos. This shows that whilst she’s not fully out, she’s in the early stages of transition.
So, no, it was not a backhanded announcement that wasn’t explored in the show. Goose has spoken about it online just to officially confirm it for anyone who missed the implications. Please let me know if there’s any more I missed.
BBC News…
Do I even need to say anything? This is nothing short of dystopian. There are genuine security risks with this.
No
I just want a Miku figure what does this mean 😭
