How do you navigate working with a more experienced CNA who’s clearly taking shortcuts?

Hypothetically, if you are asked to assist with several tasks and you’re fairly new, how do you navigate working with an older, more tenured CNA who is taking a lot of shortcuts? As in, they are doing things very differently than how you were instructed or how others told you to do it / what the standard was? I’d imagine you wouldn’t want to ruffle any feathers and can only do your parts correctly and speak up where you can, but knowing how clique-y some floors can be and how terrible colleagues can make your life, what’s the best way to handle?

Edit: thanks, all! This is great advice :)

Best way to change briefs (night time CNA)

I’m new to this so bear with me 😅

Would anybody be willing to outline exactly what they do (start to finish) when they have to change a resident’s briefs, especially during a nighttime shift? I did brief changes during training but am getting a bit nervous about doing it in real life 😅

Also, I’m assuming the nurse tells you in the beginning that a resident is incontinent and you’ll probably see soiled briefs during the 2H rounds but is there anything else I should keep in mind?? I want to make sure I’m doing a good job and am efficient.

And I’m guessing this is something you have to chart?

EDIT: incredible advice - TY! Worked alongside an experienced NOC CNA just now, and she did it exactly how both commenters laid it out :). So incredibly helpful

What is the predominant view of pre meds who work as CNAs for clinical hours?

I’m curious what folks’ views are as pre meds aren’t necessarily looking to do this long term. Are they viewed as less productive or less willing to put in the effort?

Just found out today I have a severely low AMH at age 31…getting married in less than a year

This will sound ignorant, but I’ve always had regular periods and the women in my family were extremely fertile so never thought this would be an issue. Went to a consult prior to egg freezing and it turns out I have an AMH 0.64, and I feel like the rug was pulled from underneath me. Getting married next year but am nowhere near ready for kids given our careers. Doctor was nice about it but definitely stressed the urgency of figuring out next steps.

Does anybody have any words or consolation…I’m sorry it’s just really tough news for me to hear, and I’m not sure what to do. Even my older sister had a higher AMH than I did. I guess it’s lucky she suggested I just get checked on a whim, but I’m feeling really hopeless and guilty right now.

Edit: thank you for your responses 🤍. I’m just in shock right now and I know there are worse things in the world, but I feel so guilty. I had always put my high stress career first and am now plagued with questions as to whether it was my fault this happened or if I had just let myself have kids earlier. I’m just not sure what to tell my family. My fiancé’s been supportive, but he’s in shock too.

Edit: I’m seriously so grateful for your words of kindness and advice 🤍! I was in a bit of shock today and don’t have many friends who have gone through this. I’m so lucky to have found a community of incredibly kind and welcoming souls, and when I’m a bit further in my journey / feeling a bit more settled I plan to do the same for somebody else here. You guys really made my day ☺️

Has anybody ever had a bad gut feeling about a new employer and left immediately?

What were the signs? How did you explain it to prospective employers?

Why do I attract hyper fixation & power struggles?

Does it have to do with my Scorpio placements? Not sure if my chart has any insight into this, but I seem to always attract a lot of attention (good and bad) and heightened competitiveness from others in my personal life & public life. Even if I’m not planning anything, people seem to hyperfixate on me and want to get close to me or undermine me. I prefer solitude and am extremely selective about who I let close to me.

Romantically, have attracted both good partners but also extremely predatory partners who obsess and want to “own” me / my life / are extremely controlling and try to undermine my confidence.

Appreciate any insight. Thank you :)
