Anyone else's bun groom objects close to them rather than them?

My baby boy loves long petting sessions and will hunker down and loaf happily for extended periods, and if I pause petting him, he'll stir and lick the wooden legs of the coffee table or nearby stools until I resume stroking him. I think he's adverse to the taste of humans but wants to lick me anyway so he goes for the next best thing. That or he wants to give me kisses but refuses to switch the social hierarchy up because he thinks he's the alpha bun. Or maybe he likes licking wood lol. Anyone know if he's sending me telepathic kisses or if it's just random?

ETA: Kristoff also nibbles the toes of our socks or shoes on occasion if we aren't interacting with him while around him and often will binky or loaf of given attention. I don't think it's aggressive, more like affection seeking or boredom. But almost never licks any of his hooman caretakers directly.

My partner, friend and I were following a hiking trail at Red Wood National Park, singing and talking at medium volume. We were by no means shouting, just singing little songs to entertain each other along the trail. A woman with a baby carrier on her back with a sleeping infant started aggressively holding her finger up to her lips and shushing us. We went quiet and kept moving to pass her. She was just standing in the middle of the public trail pacing and shushing people that pass by rather than leaving to somewhere more quiet. Just as we were leaving earshot I tried to quietly ask my partner a question about where we headed and again she leaned in our direction with her finger to her mouth aggressively shushing us. Is it not kind of insane to go to an open public space and behave like this?!?

They purposefully loaf as close as they can manage between the walls of his pen so they can be near one another. And people still on occasion ask if they can get along. Lol, just look at them 🥰

And then he does this and I know he doesn’t regret choosing me at all
