Archoral Experience and Review

Hi all, I’ve been researching a long time and I’m amazed at the tech that seems to come out every day. I recently started using Archoral to enhance my research and storytelling. I was wondering iif anyone else is using it and if so, how. I can see the possibilities but also the added work of populating it with existing knowledge seems overwhelming. If you use it, I’d be interested in how.

If you’re unfamiliar, here it is. https://archoral.com

Thanks,

Is it too hot to camp?

I’ve been invited to join a small group for some light camping over the weekend on the Northern Neck of VA. The temperature is expected to be humid and in the mid 90s.

I’m not in the mood to pack up a bunch of gear so no portable air conditioner…. Is it too dang hot to camp?

Jewel of the Seas Grand Suite

Hi all, i’m hoping somebody can help me with a question about the grand suite. I’m thinking of booking one for three people, but want to understand how much room the extra bed will take up in the space. By chance, does anybody have a picture of the grand suite with the bed open? Or perhaps you stayed in the grand suite where you used the pullout bed and have some thoughts on how much room it took up. Does the bed get put away by the steward every day? Thanks!

Cancer Screening and Travel Insurance

Hi all, a family member I plan to travel with has a stage 4 cancer diagnosis and is currently doing well. They get periodic MRI screenings which determine what the next few months will entail. In essence, we live from scan to scan. Let’s call a negative scan clear and a positive scan a detection that requires action.

My question is this… we want to go on a cruise and have travel insurance, but it’s not clear to me if a positive scan is a covered event that will allow us to cancel after the cruise ship deadline (which are about 90 Days out from the cruise). The scan would be about 30 days before.

I do plan on calling the insurance company but I was hoping someone might have some insight. For reference, Allianz is the insurance.

Thanks

Office Pot Luck - Sushi Cups Made 24 hrs in Advance

Hi all -

I want to make individual sushi cups for an office pot luck but was hoping to make them the night before the event. My idea is a layer of sushi rice topped with salmon cubes (Grilled), avocado cubes, cucumbers, and Surimi, topped with spicy mayo and Fujikake. My worry is that the rice won't be very good after a night in the refrigerator but I'm not sure I'll really have time to warm it up and assemble in the morning before leaving.

Thoughts?

3 Gen (2011) Makeshift Table?

Does the 3gen cargo divider have some sort of system to make it a table? What are these random holes for? They seem symmetrical on both sides.

Debugging the Tent Before Sleep

On my first solo camp and I’m loving it! I was moaning because I brought too much stuff but now that I’m all set up and happy… it was worth it. Here’s my question, the mosquitos, ants and daddy long legs seem determined to sleep with me. What’s your technique for debugging the tent for sleeping. And if you say a bug zapper please tell me what brand and model. The one I have just seems to be a pretty purple light.

Pairing Down But Staying Comfortable…

I’m getting ready for a 4 day TENT camping trip and as I stage my gear I’m looking at this and saying “my God I have a lot of stuff!. So here’s my question to the group … how many and what items do you consider the bare minimum that you camp with and still stay comfortable. For example, do you go with an air mattress or a cot? If you go with an air mattress, how much bedding and pillows do you bring? How many tables are really necessary? How many chairs do you bring assuming you’re camping by yourself and here’s is the real kicker, what does your kitchen set up look like how many pots and pans and skillets do you actually need? Assume a two burner propane stove. What about lights? Rugs, and all stuff in between… including the toilet and kitchen sink.

Maybe I just have a problem and need a gear intervention….

Tent Camping Tips and Tricks

I’m a tent camper, but I typically do so at sites that offer electricity and water. Still it is still somewhat roughing it. In a few weeks, I’ll be taking the ninja Woodfire Grill on a 10 day camping trip and I’ve been interested in finding ways to do all of my cooking on the ninja, including boiling water, baking steaming, and of course, all the wonderful things that already does like air frying, grilling and smoking. My question to the group is, how successful have you been at boiling things, re-warming liquid things and making coffee? I will say that I did an experiment and was able to make espresso in an Italian espresso maker, but it did take half an hour to go from cold water to hot espresso using a silicone matt placed between the grill flat plate and the espresso maker. Oh yeah, and it was raining outside.

Can anyone tell me if campgrounds allow you to use your own pop-up shower even if there is a bath house? Also, how do people feel about a one room or two room shower toilet combo? obviously one provides more space but it’s also more stuff to store and drag …. thoughts?
