I am, for the first time, delivering pamphlets for a political candidate. My support is predicated on what I will call "common cause". We both oppose the incumbent because we disagree on a fundamental level with how that person operates.

What I am finding so interesting is this . . . when people choose to ask questions, or inquire as to why this candidate deserves their vote, I point them to what the candidate has said. and then I ask them what the incumbent has done to deserve their vote. This usually leads to a discussion on the "State of the City", at which so many are shocked to be told the financial realities of the last 8 years.

Sure, some will have the usual hobby horses, rooming houses, cars with windows blacked out, etc. But, when you give them real pocketbook type information, the look of genuine shock/disbelief that washes over their faces is just a little bit frightening.

People have truly not been paying attention. Lets hope enough of them wake up in the next three weeks.

So, beginning when the snow melted, and continuing through the summer, the City has been on a speed hump installing blitz. Streets that formerly had the ASE cameras now have the humps to slow down traffic. But, some of the omissions seem odd.

Balmoral, for example, has several sets of humps between Dixie and Bramalea, but NONE in front of the high school. Moreover, the section near Eastbourne, that ALSO had cameras, does NOT have any humps, despite the presence of two elementary schools.

Finchgate, which had cameras near the school, has no humps installed, despite being a high traffic connector route between Queen and Clark.

Earnscliffe Circle, which never got cameras, despite signage claiming they were coming (for over a year before the program was kiboshed), now has humps.

Not looking to debate the efficacy of the humps or cameras, just curious if other parts of the City are experiencing these odd choices?

Recently made a post about bending a point while switching them out using my repointing tool. Prior to this incident, I had placed an order for more Alpha Points (best push in points, imo).

Perfect Nine responded in that post that they would send me a set with my next order. I thought little of it beyond mentioning that I had an order in their system.

Welp, received my order yesterday and an extra set of points WAS included. Not a huge deal from a cost level, but it is the little things like this that make smaller manufacturers worthy of support.

The damage was completely my error, they had no obligation of any kind, but did so anyway. Many thanks.

Just called Mandarin to order dinner and, I have to say, the experience was SO much better than most.

We order out at least once a week, in order to support local restaurants. It's something we started during covid, and have just kept on doing (because we're lazy) ever since.

Most places you call, they just want to rush you through the order process, and move on. But Mandarin invariably takes their time, always double checks the order list, and then asks if there might be anything else.

Just a nice, refreshing experience on a holiday Monday. Hope you all are having a great day.

So, until recently, I never had an issue with my phone reverting to SMS/MSM texting when I turned off my wifi.

Lately, if I start texting someone using RCS (because I am on wifi at work) it will not "send" the message until I reconnect with the wifi.

I have tried searching my settings, but the only thing I can see is an "all or nothing", where I either use MMS/SMS exclusively, or RCS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The greatest thing a Father can do is raise their children to be good people. I was spoiled today, by a daughter who is kind, empathetic, and a damn fine cook.

New York strips, baked potatoes with all the trimmings, and corn on the cob. Dessert was homemade cinnamon rolls that put Cinnabon to shame.

Happy Father's Day to all who have earned the title. And, if I happen to have crossed over into spending too much time here today, well, I'll blame it on the sugar rush.

Please note . . . this post is meant to tickle your funny bone, as it did mine.

New speed "cushions" have been installed on Balmoral Drive, between Bramalea Rd. and Dixie. A section of roadway that USED to be monitored by two ASE cameras now has seven (7!!!) of these fucking things, doubling the time it takes to transit this section of road.

Yes, there are two elementary schools and a high school, as well as three Churches . . . but holy hell, it is a fairly well traveled road. Sadly there is little alternative for the wife and I, beyond using Clark, which will be equally slow because of the traffic light all along that route.
