In an era where thousands of people are being laid off, I decided to quit my job despite having decent pay and a possible onsite opportunity coming up.
And honestly, I sometimes wonder if I made a huge mistake.
The truth is, I was miserable there. It was a domain I never really saw myself staying in, and I was increasingly drawn towards the creative field. But I quit impulsively, without a proper plan for what I would do next.
Since then, I’ve applied to multiple roles, given interviews, and experienced everything from ghosting to roles suddenly going silent. And now, the market itself feels quiet.
What scares me is the timing. If I don’t manage to find something by September, I’m worried I might have to wait until early next year as hiring tends to slow down towards the end of the year.
At this point, I’m stuck between two choices: hold on to the skills and experience I already have and keep applying, or take this as a sign to seriously explore a completely different career path.
I know I’m not the only person who has made a career decision that looked right at the time but later started feeling like a mistake.
Has anyone here gone through something similar? Did things eventually work out for you? I’d really appreciate hearing your stories — especially the ones with a silver lining.

Hello Everyone! I have an HR discussion for a job position at LTM and would like to know how much hike can I expect?
The HR that is assisting me in the process said that they can provide 15% more than my current salary which in not sufficien. Given the condition that I am an immediate joiner and I do not have another offer in hand, should I push for 40% and a joining bonus?
Edit: Thank you for all the humbling comments.
Plot twist: Today, I travelled 15 hours for the F2F HR interview. After reaching the interview cabin, they told me, “Sorry, we didn’t check your experience earlier. We require at least 3 years of experience to consider candidates for the P2 band.”
I have 2 years and 8 months of experience. 🥲
So yes, I travelled 15 hours… only to find out that I was 4 months short after 3 rounds of interview.
I am System Admin and until 3 weeks back I got calls mostly from naukri but now there is complete silence. Can someone tell me which job application strategy is working best for you? Naukri? Referrals? direct application on company portal?
Hello everyone!
I’m a Windows System Administrator with 3 years of hands-on experience in enterprise infrastructure, including:
• Windows Server Administration
• VMware
• Citrix
• PowerShell Automation
• Azure
• Dynatrace Monitoring
• ITIL Processes & On-call Production Support
I’m currently based in India and actively looking for new opportunities in Windows Infrastructure, Cloud Support, Azure Administration.
If you know of any suitable openings or can provide a referral, I’d really appreciate it. Feel free to DM me. Thanks!
I have around 3 years of experience working as a System Administrator, but I’ve realized that I don’t find the role particularly engaging. I’m considering transitioning into DevOps since it seems like the most natural next step from my current experience. However, the competition for DevOps roles appears to be very high, which makes me wonder if it’s the best path.
Back in college, I really enjoyed working with Python, AI/ML, frontend web development, and UI/UX, but I haven’t kept up with those technologies over the past few years.
From your perspective, which domains are currently the most in demand and have strong long-term growth potential? If you were in my position, which path would you choose? Do you have any similar such stories to share?
Hi guys,
I resigned without an offer and I am currently left with 10 days of notice period. I did not recieve any calls up untill last week. no interviews scheduled till now. I am getting anxious if it was a right decision. I do not want to end up being unemployed.
I currently have 2 years and 8 months of experience in Windows, citrix, vmware, patch and vulnerability management, etc…
Can someone please guide me in on how to deal with this situation?
Has the hiring slowed down for this positin?
Should I switch to Cloud/devops?
will a 1-2 month gap look bad on my resume?
How to increase calls from recruiters and convert them into interview?
