Does seeing a campus counselor show up at MEPS? Hypothetical for the future

I'm a college freshman who may want to enlist or commission through the Guard or HPSP down the line. I'm thinking about seeing my campus counseling center for general stress/low mood. I don’t plan on going on to more than 1-2 sessions, and I have no mental health history at all. I just wanted to make sure it won’t come up later.

Does campus counseling get reported to the military on its own, or only if I disclose it on the MEPS forms? And will it need a waiver? Is there anything I should ask my counselor up front about confidentiality?

im considering Air Force/navy specifically but im open to the other branches as well.

Suddenly unable to wake up to alarms despite getting 7-9 hours of sleep. What could cause this?

For the past 6 months or so, I’ve (F18, 5’4”, 125lb, no medical conditions) had a really hard time waking up to alarms, and it’s becoming a problem because I start college soon and will need to wake up around 6:00 AM.

Right now, I usually fall asleep around 3:00 AM and get about 7-9 hours of sleep. If I set alarms for 11:00 AM with multiple follow-up alarms afterward, I almost never actually wake up until the last one around noon.

The weird part is that I don’t remember turning the earlier alarms off. I’ll have vivid or strange dreams between the alarms, and then suddenly wake up later with no memory of silencing them.

This started during my senior year of high school. Before that, I could wake up at 6:30 AM on the first alarm almost regardless of what time I went to bed. During senior year, I gradually started oversleeping, first waking up at 7:00 AM instead of 6:30, then occasionally missing school entirely because I slept through multiple alarms.

I don’t have:

  • Loud snoring or anyone telling me I stop breathing
  • Waking up gasping
  • Morning headaches
  • Excessive daytime sleepiness. Once I’m awake, I function normally, although I could probably sleep longer if I let myself.

I’m wondering what could explain this change. Could this just be a delayed sleep schedule/circadian rhythm issue, or is it something that would warrant seeing a doctor or getting a sleep study? I don’t take any medications or any substances. I drink (2-3 drinks) and smoke both maybe once/twice a week.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Problem with eyedrops

I’ve been in Ortho-K for about three months and I’m having a hard time finding the right lubricating drops.

Timeline:

•  Used regular multi-dose TheraTears (the one with sodium perborate) for about 2.5 months

•  Switched to Refresh preservative-free for a week → it burns pretty bad when I first put it in

•  Went back to the TheraTears for a few days → felt a little better at first, but it made the plunger harder to use when removing the lenses and also gave me dryness during the day

I’m stopping the TheraTears now and want to stick with preservative-free only.

Has anyone dealt with something similar?

What PF drops worked well for you that:

•  Don’t burn on insertion

•  Don’t make the lenses harder to remove with the plunger

•  Help with daytime dryness

Any specific brands/formulas you’d recommend for Ortho-K would be really appreciated. Thanks!

National/ANG and college

I’m about to be entering college as a freshman studying engineering the fall. I was contacted by a recruiter a while ago regarding the DEP and reserves, but after doing some more research I think I’m more interested in the guard bc of a few personal reasons and I think it may align better with my goals.

I wanted to know if anyone in the sub has advice about how the guard works with college and if it’s sustainable long term. thanks so much!

Any good ranges in the area?

I’m wondering if there are any good shooting ranges (preferably should be suitable for beginners) around here. ideally should be a good deal for a low price. thanks!

Need advice for scars

Long story short I (19F) got really sad and drunk a month ago, and ended up cutting for the first time. they’re really high up on my thigh, so it’s hidden in shorts, but it’s very obvious that I’ve self harmed as there’s about 4 2 inch long parallel lines. they weren’t too deep, but bled for a bit.

I never thought I’d allow myslef to do this, and now I’m scared to get inebriated in any amount as I couldn’t feel myself thinking rationally. when I sobered up, I realised they’d scar and be on by body for a long long time. I left it alone for a week without proper coverage (?)

Then I kinda freaked out and bought a shit ton of silicone scar sheets I’ve been wearing on and off. I may have a physical scheduled in a few months, in which they check your body for self harm scars. If they see any, you’re disqualified.

I’m worried out now, as these scars are mostly flat but really really dark (I think my body has always scarred dark naturally) and now I’m afraid one bad night will ruin future opportunities for me and will be a permanent reminder of a bad time. i know a lot of you are older, so I’m wondering if these scars last later into adulthood. please let me know if there’s anything I can do with pigmentation so that these scars fade as much as possible within four months.
if it helps, I’m southeast Asian with fairly pale skin who tans easily. The cuts are in an area which isn’t exposed to sun anyway, and the scars are dark brownish red, and very slightly raised.

Beyond angry at myself + need advice

Long story short I got really sad and drunk a month ago, and ended up cutting for the first time. I didn’t even mean to, but I grabbed an eyebrow razor and pressed too hard, and they ended up bleeding for a few minutes. they’re really high up on my thigh, so it’s hidden in shorts, but it’s very obvious that I’ve self harmed as there’s about 4 2 inch long parallel lines. I’ve gotten the urge since then but haven’t acted on it.
