Need advice: How to smoothly convince my strict dad to let me stay at my Mamu’s house instead of our empty family home?

Hey Everyone,

I’m a Pakistani expat heading back to Gujranwala in August after 8 years. I'll be there for about 4 to 6 weeks to get my some documents sorted and apostilled.

My immediate family lives in the Middle East now, so our 2-story family home in GRW will be empty when I arrive. Some distant cousins were living there while their own house was being built, but they are moving out 1-2 weeks before I land. Because of the timing, I can't even use the "house is currently occupied" excuse. My dad fully expects me to stay in our house, but I really want to stay at my Mamu's place instead.

Here is the catch: My dad has some old beef with my Mami (Mamu’s wife) and her mother, who also lives there. He’s going to be pretty stern about me staying in our own house.

Logically and personally, staying at my Mamu's just makes sense,

The relationship: I have a really great bond with my Mamu. He's a fun guy, and I'm honestly just excited to chill with him. He also has young kids (9 and 10 years old) who used to live abroad with me but have now shifted to Pakistan. I honestly don't give a damn about the drama with the wife and her mother; I'm just there for my Mamu and the kids.

The logistics: My flight is brutal (EU -> Turkey for 6 hours -> Karachi for 4 hours -> Lahore). I am going to be dead on arrival. I want to drop my bags in a ready guest room, not walk into an empty house and deal with dust, utilities, and setup.

The internet: I need immediate internet to run heavy software daily for work. Mamu has a stable, high-speed connection. Getting a new line set up at an empty house will take days.

The houses are a 3-minute walk apart: I can easily walk over during the day to check on our property and ensure the cousins left it in good shape, but sleep and work at Mamu's.

I plan to call my dad about 10 days before my flight to drop the news. I cannot hide this because word travels fast in Pakistan. My cousins all live nearby, and if the word gets out that "XXXXXX is living with Mamu while his house is free," my dad will find out, and it will be a disaster. I need to be upfront.

What is the best excuse or angle I can pitch to a traditional desi dad without hurting his pride or triggering a massive argument? Any locals have solid excuses I can use? Thanks!

Update on the kid who needed internet: The parent just came over...

Alright, so here is the update on the kid asking for wifi situation. It got way weirder today.

Yesterday, I actually tried figuring out which apartment this kid belongs to, (I was suggested by one of you to inform his parents about the kids shenanigans) since there are a bunch of units in my building. I knocked on a few doors on the upper and lower floors, but couldn't find them, so I just dropped it for the time being.
Fast forward to today around 1:00 PM. I get a knock on my door.
I open it, and it's the parent. I knew instantly because she was holding the exact same phone & her body language like holding the phone etc. She basically greets me & just straight up tells me: "Our kid does not eat food without the internet, without watching something. So please can we have the internet?" Those were literally her exact words.
The timing is what's absolutely insane. Literally right before she knocked, the internet service provider guys had just finished installing the line in my place. They literally just left. The line is set up, I just have to go down and sign the final contract to activate it.
Since it's not technically active yet, I just told her I'm still in the process of getting it.

But my mind is honestly boggled but this is a crazier turnaround xD i thought the kid was having fun but his parents were aware too? Honestly i think the kid just opened up & said I cant eat my things without brainrot, & i was siphoning it from the neighbor so pls go ask him. Bro cracked just 3 days without internet 😭.

This is a really decent neighborhood, so I just didn't expect this level of randomness.
What do you guys think? Tbh I might just share the password for this family since it just 1 phone connected & the parents KNOW what their kid is upto & came to ask for it basically. Atleast they’re aware. Thoughts?

Neighbor's kid keeps knocking on my door for Wi-Fi "to call his mom"

Hey everyone, expat here living in one of the mid-rise apartments on Dardania street. A few months ago, I got a knock on my door from two kids who clearly live in my building since the main entrance is always locked. A boy around 9 or 10 and his little sister, maybe 4 or 5. In broken English, the boy pointed to his phone and said they needed to contact their mom and asked if they could use my Wi-Fi. I didn't think much of it, typed in my password, and he went away happy. Later on, I told my wife about it and she immediately said, "What if their parents restricted their internet and they're just using you to get online?" I brushed it off at the time thinking he really just needed to call his mom, but the thought kind of stuck with me because I really don't want to be the guy undermining some neighbor's parenting. Cut to this week, my one-year contract with Kujtesa just ended so my home wifi has actually been off for the last two days while I'm in the process of changing providers// by the way, what do you guys think is a good provider for home internet around here with decent speeds and prices? I'm actually about to switch probably, so let me know. But yeah, because the wifi is down, I've just been using a hotspot from my phone to my laptop.

Then today, the boy knocks on my door again, completely alone this time, with the exact same story: "I need to contact my mom, can you give me the hotspot?" I told him my actual internet was down but offered to give him my phone's hotspot for a bit so he could make his call. He eagerly agreed, connected, and I went back inside. After about 20 minutes, I figured that was more than enough time for a call, so I went into my settings to turn the hotspot off. Out of curiosity, I checked the data usage first, and this kid had chewed through 135 MB in less than 15 minutes. There is absolutely no way a quick audio or WhatsApp call to his mom takes that much data, he was definitely streaming videos or playing a game the second he walked away. I shut it off right then and there, and now I realize my wife was 100% right from the start. His parents probably think he's safely offline, while he’s just secretly siphoning data from the neighbor down the hall. Has anyone else dealt with crafty neighbor kids like this here? What's the move next time he knocks 🥶

[Advice] Can I get my Domicile & Single Status/No Impediment Affidavits made via Power of Attorney? (EU Marriage Registration)

Assalam Alikum everyone,
I’m currently trying to register my marriage in an Euro Balkan country and have run into a bureaucratic roadblock. The local authorities require a “Marital Capacity Contract” (or Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry). Since Pakistan does not issue a standardized document with that exact title, I need to provide the closest alternatives:

  1. My Domicile
  2. Affidavit of Single Status (not the UC Unmarried Certificate, thats covers another point here)
  3. Affidavit / Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage

The Municipality says its a document where both me & my fiances names / information is written in 1 page etc, and I have repeatedly told them Pakistan does not issue a document like that, any clue how to tackle this? Apparently a (Marital Capacity Contract) is exactly that

I am currently living abroad and cannot fly back to Pakistan just for paperwork, so I am hoping to get this sorted remotely.

My main questions:

Using a Power of Attorney (PoA): If I issue a Power of Attorney to my cousin or hire a lawyer in Pakistan, can they legally obtain my Domicile and these specific affidavits on my behalf? Do I need to be physically present for any biometric verification?

The "Marital Capacity" Workaround: Has anyone here successfully registered their marriage in an EU country with this exact requirement? Did the authorities accept the Union Council Unmarried Certificate + Affidavits (attested by MOFA & the relevant embassy) as a valid substitute?

Any insights, procedural advice, or recommendations for reliable lawyers who handle overseas Pakistani documents would be highly appreciated.
JazakAllah Khair!

Pershendetje Everyone, a foreign resident here.

I’ve been having a weird issue with my electric bills lately and wanted to see if it’s just me.
Basically, the amounts on eKosova and the eKesco app never match up. There’s a consistent difference of about 25 - 30 euros, and eKesco is always the one that’s higher.
Up until now, I’ve just been paying the higher amount on eKesco to avoid any drama with KEDS, but I’m starting to wonder if I’m just throwing money away. If eKosova says I owe less, should I just pay that?
Has anyone else noticed this? Which one is actually the "real" bill? If I pay the lower one on eKosova, is KESCO gonna come back later saying I still owe them money?
Would appreciate any tips from anyone who’s dealt with this. Faleminderit!
