Compact 40cu build without 240mm radiator?

I just ordered a bc250 and hoping to enable some CUs. Any good alternatives to this 240mm AIO cooler ‘upgrade’?

Using a 240mm radiator seems overkill to me so hoping for a good alternative.

Seeking smaller storage controller for my NAS for 8 sata ports

I’ve decided to make it easier to work on my TrueNas server and upgrade to 10gbe. There’s little room to do maintenance or upgrade the system without complete disassembly. I’m seeking a more compact storage controller as my Fujitsu 9211-8i is too big for the case but require 8 sata ports

Current specs include
Intel i5 8600k PTM7950 modded
Asus Z370-I with T probe sensor attachable to hard drive
Arctic Freezer 13 stuffed in
Fujitsu 9211-8i
Silverstone DS380 case with 12 bags including 8x3.5”, 4x2.5”
Ugreen RTL8156bg reliable revised version of this usb chipset

New upgrades include
Compact Noctua NH-L9I
10GBE RTL8127 PCIEx4
adapter to break out from m.2 slot

Aim to find a decent storage controller with 8 sata ports

Obsessed with this mod? Any mainstream version using portable AC?

Techingrediants managed to make a much more powerful/efficient air conditioner by creating a heat exchanger on a cheap AC unit. The heat exchanger attaches to a loop of PEX pipe he buried at 8’ depth. I was wondering if there are any existing inexpensive AC units that allow a liquid loop to be connected.

Bad experience with Jetway mainboard and 2.5gbe network interfaces

My goal is to get my install working with 2.5gbe with an rtl8156bg usb.

My system includes a jetway NF9J-Q87 motherboardthat seems ideal for truenas with stock i211AT and i217LM. since its 2026 I wanted to get 2.5gbe working with this but can't get truenas to create a web interface at anything but the i211at connection. I've also tried PCIe brackets that are hard to test as the case is hard to disassemble and don’t have a PCI back slot.

specs include

  • jetway NF9J-Q87
  • i5 4570s
  • drives 4*12tb
  • blue datto case with built in psu
  • 32gb ddr3 sodimms
  • msata boot SSD.

Version is 25.10.3 and have just updated to 25.10.4

Its a truly awful time to have to replace a system especially with 32gb ram so trying to avoid that.

11th ES board. Anyone had issues with the chipset PCH temperatures?

As in title really. I noticed the PCH was at 58C, after replacing with Chinese PTM7950 its hovering at 57C. System obviously isn’t in a case yet but I don’t see it running better with a gpu installed.

The IHS heatsink also benefited from cheap PTM7950.

Need good 4mm test leads from CPC

I have a hanmatek hm305p power supply from Amazon it’s handy when I need a particular voltage but I’ve noticed the cables getting needlessly hot. It turns out the 4mm banana plugs are poorly terminated at both ends only making contact with a few strands. Can someone recommend a better set from CPC.farnell

Machine to automate cutting out labels from a4?

Can someone put me onto a machine that will cut out labels printed onto a4 paper or card. Cutting a dozen sheets with 21 labels per sheet is getting long winded.

Any context for why PhaseSheet PTM not recommended on delidded CPUs?

I’ve used regular PTM7950 for years on skylake/kabylake/coffee lake/comet lake CPUs that came with factory paste and seen a 20C drop. I get this wouldn’t be a solution for a 14900k with STIM but that context isn’t given.

I’m currently temperature cycling an 8700k paired with a period cooler master 212x (1700rpm) hitting 90c then down to 70C 1100rpm.

Awesome nas. Previous owner had an old version of truenas 11 on the Kingston msata SSD and more than capable of running truenas 26.

The stock fan was louder than the hard drives at idle. Admittedly the dynatron heatsink is decent with enough thermal mass to handle a better cpu.

So nvidia 3d vision allowed stereoscopic 3d back in 2009 and was discontinued in 2020. Is there a way to setup my games like assassins creed to be played within steam vr with a 3d screen as if it were a window rather than a flat screen.
