Another wave of Pleco Torturing videos incoming

Another wave of videos is hitting this community, and I wanted to post a reminder to not engage with the posts. The best we can do as we wait for new moderators is to just downvote and report the content to Reddit.

I saw a few people making a Reddit request to take over this subreddit, and hopefully they get it, but it will take some time so thank you for your patience.

Moderator post regarding the Pleco Torturing videos

Apologies to everyone that had to see the videos and to those that don’t know bots are currently spamming fish-related subreddits with videos of people torturing plecos. These videos are made by an account called “Lab Germ” on TikTok, and from what I’ve seen, it originated from that account.

Why are the bots posting this content here? If I had to guess, the bots are spamming this content in multiple fish-focused communities to karma farm. Unfortunately, this type of content does well on social media, so they think it’s an easy way to get karma on Reddit.

What can I do about it? Please report the posts so we can remove them and make sure to report the account to Reddit, as they can do more than subreddit moderators.

What are the r/fish moderators doing about this? We are already handing reports and removing them as fast as our small mod team can. I already turned on crowd control to help filter them out, and I plan to also add a karma & account age requirement to post later today.

Proud of her training progress

I’ve been working with her awhile now and her recall and response to commands have gotten so much better.

Very proud of her!

Poll: Should we add post flairs?

Hello, my shrimpies! I know, I know, a rare moderator post, but I bring a topic to our shrimp home. I was thinking about adding post flairs, but I wanted to know what the community thought about them before I added it.

My brain is empty, so I’ll take recommendations in the comments for post & user flairs.

DIY Treats

How exactly would I make my own dog treats? I was looking at buying meat scraps in bulk from butcher shops in my area and was just curious on how I would make them into good treats for my dogs.

I own huskies, and this is the cheapest way to get high-value treats that they won’t get bored of.
