What are your "set and forget" cameras and why?

It's been a while since I used Dazz and I've lost track of which cameras I used to use and feel overwhelmed with what's available. Usually I'd just import a photo to a camera I liked but I'd like to try shooting in the app.

My routine these days

There are a few more things I'm still refining, and after another week I'll go up to my goal of 4x retinaldehyde a week. My face skincare has also made me feel encouraged to expand into more bodycare and improved hygiene routines, so I'm working on another sheet in the weeks coming up.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the B-bomb 10% is a niacinamide serum.

I showed this to a dermatologist this week. I went to ask if prescription azaleic acid would be helpful for me, but it looks like I'll go the laser route for some redness and veins around my nose. The only things in this routine they said I could cut out is the snail mucin and the cleansing balm. They said the balm was for makeup wearers only (I don't wear makeup but I do have spf to take off), and double cleansing was stripping. And the snail mucin was sort of redundant as a moisturizer. My oil and water cleanse are very gentle, as my routine is very barrier centric. The snail mucin may be redundant but in terms of feel, it's actually my favorite skincare product. I feel like the Good Cera holds the snail mucin onto my face in a way I feel like my skin really drinks it. Neither are giving me issues, my bare skin feels GREAT before putting anything on, and this is more a clash of Eastern and Western skincare philosophies rather than doing something unsafe.

There needs to be financial consequences for Kodaks' use of plastic spools

Somehow in their efforts to have a rebirth of film they decided to cheap out on the daylight spools used for 16mm 100' rolls. This has resulted in ruined shoots and wasted film. Who has to bear the burden? I'll tell you doesn't, Kodak.

People need to call them out and boycott this shit until they change it back to metal. This is only one thing of many I'm sure they're planning to do that will negatively affect film. If it's allowed to continue, us film users are enabling their behavior.

This series changed my perception of books permanently

I'm doing my best to not get spoiled with the series. I'm only on chapter 25 of the first book, but hope to get caught up quickly.

I always felt like I was being forced to read books in elementary and middle school that weren't very exciting to me. Looking back, those classics were good, but the being forced part ruined any chance of enjoying books back then, even on my own. I saw them as an educational utility without pleasure involved, as they always came with multiple assignments, tests, and discussions.

I realized a couple years ago that I had never read a book by choice in my adult life. I set out to change that and really enjoyed The Object by Josh Calvert as my first. It feels like Contact in many ways. I'm currently trying to get through the book Contact too now, as I love the movie, but it's a dense book that I can only take in small doses.

Enter DCC. I kept hearing about it and seeing ads and finally said fuck it I'll try it. My real hesitation wasn't that it was a book or that it was a series of books. It was that I'm barely a gamer and I've never played a dungeon crawler. Naturally my first thought when I researched what it was about, was "ain't no fuckin way I'll ever get into this".

BOY WAS I FUCKING WRONG. By the end of chapter 2 I was hooked. By the end of chapter 10 I was obsessed, and now I can't stop thinking about it. I'm already on chapter 25. This means that I've never in my life rolled through a book this quickly, not even The Object. While I do have to force myself a bit just to start the act of reading, I stay enjoying it with this book once I've started. While I enjoyed The Object a lot, I can't say I've ever really loved a book before DCC.

I've bounced back and forth between the audio book and reading, to my surprise, because I nwould have thought I could only do the audiobook in the past. Listening while on a daily walk has been great for me.

My perception of books is forever changed. Now I understand what the enjoyment of reading should feel like, and I'm already grieving this series ending, and I only just started.

My next mission is to get people I know reading it, because I don't want to go through this journey alone.

It's satisfying as fuck to see my ereader actually going down in battery now and I can't wait to keep getting lost in this awesome story.

The Dressrosa "sendoff" was incredible

I thought previous sendoffs were great but the Dressrosa one topped everything. It was a masterful move and made the heaviness of the Dressrosa arc finally lift for me.

I tried not to spoil with this post, so don't spoil anything beyond this for me either lol

A still from footage shot on a Digital8 camcorder from a service hallway in Exton Square Mall

Just waiting for an entity to pop out

Went to Exton Square Mall to pay my respects one last time

I went equipped with my Sony DSC-S50, the famous camera which took the original backrooms camera. I had the white balance setting set to “Outdoor”m so that as many pictures as possible would have the yellow tint we all know and love. I accidentally met a couple of awesome guys there who had driven some distance to also see this mall in its final week, and we went exploring together. If you guys are seeing this, it was great to meet you! I wouldn’t have been brave enough to wander around in those areas if it hadn’t been for you.

It’s a shame that this mall is about to be closed forever, because it really is a beautiful space, especially the natural light from the overhead windows it gets. My hope is that the arcade doesn’t close down because there’s so much life in there, which I got to see on my way out. The joyous energy in the arcade alone makes up for the utter sadness of the rest of the mall.

If you want to see a mall truly at its end, go check this one out. It’s sad, it’s beautiful, it’s magical. Oh, and because they turned off the cooling it’s also HOT!

I’ve shared 20 of my favorite photos in this post, but if you’d like to see all the photos I took you can click the link.

Took these with the same model camera that took the original backrooms photo

I intentionally used the "Outdoor" white balance to get some muddy yellow

u/Appropriate_Ad2342 — 2 months ago

I did a simple white balance test to recreate the famous yellow look from the backrooms photo, using the backrooms camera

I got a Sony DSC S50 today. One image is set to auto white balance and the other is set to outdoor, which turns white into orange. While you can do this with any digital camera, it's satisfying to see it through the lens of the backrooms camera

Got my hands on the DSC S50. It's the camera model that took the original backrooms photo
