Visted this place when traveling, very liminal mall. Pictures taken around noon.
A tiny mall opened around the early 70s is mostly dead on the inside, even though the mall is fully occupied, it is still dead from the inside, with the place being on the verge of being gutted and de-malled somehow still has life with a local pizza place keeping the place alive
*I plan on adding more photos soon of this little mall soon*
Normally I wouldn't type stuff to try to scare people off in a post like this, but I was lucky I was able to explore this mall. It took some number of visits to find a way inside - maintenance regularly patches holes, police are often chilling in the parking lot, and they run heat-sensing drones over the building when they feel like it. Additionally, the building's condition is hazardous, with significant mold and asbestos in some of the anchors. I got sick due to the mold exposure shortly after this visit. That being said...
We start off looking at the extension building of Sears separate from the rest of the mall. Then we move on to damage in the main interior of Tri-County Mall. Then we get a shot of Sears, a shot of the mold and water damage in Dillard's (Macy's is in similar condition), and a shot of the flooding on the basement level of Dillard's. The last photo shows the damage in a very extensive hallway going behind many of the main stores in the mall.
20 photo limit, so part 2 coming soon, highlighting the beauty of the architecture, liminal shots, long-forgotten underground rooms, and more!
Columbia Place in Dentsville SC
Visited today, there look to be two churches still operating within the mall, and walking through on a Sunday morning you can hear the preaching throughout the entirety of the mall. There are still a few clothing and jewelry stores open, along with a collectibles shop. Macys is the last anchor store left in the mall. Real fascinating place to wander through, and is totally worth the visit!
Took these before the mall was torndown
This mall spent quite some time dying and finally closed a couple of years ago. I'm happy to see this building reused instead of being torn down like so many other dead malls.
Similar to KYOVA Tri State Mall in Ashland, the central area of the mall has been taken over by a ripoff Malibu Jack's. The massive old Sears space is being used by a landscaping company, and a Planet Fitness is adjacent to the main interior. The only major vacant space is the old JCPenney.
My photos start off by showing the remnants of Sears, then the remnants of the mall interior, then the front exterior, and finally, the single photo I have of the original mall interior while it was still a mall.
The demolition has made it to the food court! I posted pictures about 2 years ago as the mall was dying (literally on its last leg). Sucks to see it go. Hard to get pictures with the fence being up to keep you out of construction.
Sorry the floor sucks
5/15 Friday evening and this place is deader than ever-It’s truly starting to show deterioration in the most typical Namdar fashion sense. We can’t stop documenting this one though in all its beauty, and will be so sad when it shutters. Bonus edit on the signage I took the liberty of editing to reflect all your favorite brands that no longer exist!
The first of four malls I filmed while in South Carolina. Premiers tonight at 9 PM EDT
